Facebook Notifications

Settings> Social Network> press menu > Account settings> Facebook. Here you can uncheck "update notifications automatically every:"

This should stop facebook from updating. If you want to update, you can go into the people app, and tap the updates icon on the bottom. Pressing menu will give you an option to update manually.

It is still sending notifications for events. It's making me crazy. I have 87 connections in my contacts to facebook so as you can imagine it is a constant stream of notifications.

Thanks for your help! If it wasn't for this forum I would have returned the phone.

Yep, I just got a bunch too ... I am going to try and change it to every 24 hours, that was I only need to clear once a day. Hopefully that works.

I not only did that, but fully logged out of FB because I found a far better FB app (Bloo). I also had to reboot my phone before the notifications stopped.

Bloo is a lot more intrusive with its notifications, with the beeping for each one. I suppose I might be able to turn that off, though. I just close out of Bloo whenever I don't want to be actively engaged in FB fun. The one shining advantage to Sense's FB app is the photo viewing. I actually jump between three means of communicating with Facebook because no one way meets all my needs.

HTC Sense: Best photo browser with pinch-to-zoom, but doesn't show photo captions or allow interaction. Syncs birthdays and events with my Google calendar, which is good, imho.

Bloo: Only way to tag people in photos without logging into the FB desktop version on the browser. All the information is there, but navigating Bloo is a lot tougher than navigating the plane-jane FB touch site. Otherwise, this is the app that does the most.

FB touch site through browser: This is really underrated. It runs much faster than Bloo and can do all the same things except post notifications and tag people in images.

im not sure if its just me, but does the facebook touch site if you get a notification that someone commented on a photo and you click on the link it takes you to the album that the photo is in and if you do find the right photo you cant see the comment?

AFAIK from using the touch site for the past two weeks there is no way to see picture comments on the touch Facebook. I've had the same frustration as the guy above many times. It's time they came out with an Android Facebook App that's as fleshed out as the (gasp!) iPhone's app.

I think a lot of you are still getting notifications because you have the Facebook app installed from Android Market as well as the one included with Sense. I deleted the one from Android Market and turned syncing off in settings and haven't had any problems.

You're my boy, Bloo!

How can I get the one that isn't ffrom the market? I am sick of the notifications !!!!!!!!!!

I have all my notifications sent to my phone via an email account dedicated JUST to facebook. Its also Gmail, so its automatically pushed to the phone, and there's no update frequency, and it really doesn't use data as much. The only thing I don't get are notifications of someone "liking" one of my posts or pictures or whatever. Until the actual app is fixed, I would recommend this.
