GDE skins

hey I was thinking about getting GDE for themes. It looks like the best of the bunch of skinninng options IMO, but I've noticed that there aren't that many themes for it. are you able to use any ahome, openhome, etc ... theme with it? I've been playing with pandahome a little bit, and I've noticed that some other themes word with it, and others don't.

Anyone here currently using GDE that can tell me how it well it works with other skins?

Unfortunately GDE does not support any other skins. Also, it does not support icon packs (unless you have Better Cut) or font packs.

GDE is relatively new, and all of the above (skins, icons, and fonts) are on the to do list of the developer.

I'm currently using GDE, and even though I can't use any other themes or font packs, I absolutely love GDE. I've used dxTop, Open Home, and aHome. They all are great in there own way, but GDE (at least in my case) runs more smoothly than the others. I also love the different screen transitions you can choose from (I use the stretch transition). It is also way more stable. I've had it for 2 days now, and not one single force close.

Also, one of my main concerns regarding apps is customer support. The dev of GDE is one of the most helpful/responsive developers ever. I was having an issue on how to take something off my homescreen. I emailed him, and within 30 minutes I got an email back explaining how to fix my problem.

It's simply a great app. Can't wait for updates.

I agree. i love the smoothness of it. The last update was pretty decent. It added the option for auto-rotate which was one of my main complaints. Now I love it.

I like GDE, but it slowed down my phone (Samsung Moment). So I'm back to Open Home. Other than being a little laggy, I liked the features it has.

Really? That's odd. I have no lag at all. That's the crazy thing about home apps, everyone's situation is always different.

Lagging? Abosultely not. I tried others like aHome, Freshface but GDE is the smoothness and quickest one. The Hero theme is the skin I like most with dial button really works.

Just a thought on why it my be lagging for you. What screen transition were you using? The cube and fade transitions would cause the most lag.

That could be it, I was using the cube transition since it wrapped around. Every time I swiped the screen to get to another screen, it was a bit delayed to transition. I should try it again on the regular transition, but then it doesn't "connect" the two end screens...to make for continuous scrolling...if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean. If you want the to have the end screens connected then I would use the stretch transition. It has the least lag of all the other transitions (other than the normal transition). That's the transition that I'm using now.

I like GDE and it runs smooth for the most part, the only issue I have is everytime I restart my Droid, I unlock my phone and I get a force close for GDE .... Everytime
