Root Hello Everyone!

I just got an HTC Incredible today and proceeded to root it and remove the bloatware! I look forward to learning from this forum and increasing my knowledge of android.
And as long as I'm making a thread, I'm going to ask for some help. I'm attempting to put a custom boot screen on the phone (following the instructions on this site) and when I type "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local" or "mv /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/" (depending on which method I'm using)into the command prompt it says "no such file or directory"
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have to file in the right place. When you plug in two drives pop up. One is your phone, the other is your sd card.

While I haven't tried changing this, boot animations do not live in /data/local in 2.2. Try renaming it VZW_bootanimation, and pt it in /system/customize/resource. You might want to make a copy of the original before overwriting it.

I checked, and I did have the file on my phone. So I moved it to my sd card and tried again, and it still didn't work

You are absolutely correct! I downloaded Root Explorer and had a look through my phone, and the verizon boot screen was in /system/customize/resource, but it was in .gif format. I tried replacing it with another .gif with the same name (VZW.gif) and app and it didn't work. So I'm going to try and use the command prompt on my computer while the phone is mounted and see if I can't get it figured out.
