Root How to revert to 2.1 S-ON??

Consider yourself lucky....mine can't get past the splash screen and recovery won't work, so I have to send it back crossing my fingers they don't notice the s-on!! :(

did this happen as result of downgrading?? I had the same problem, you just downgraded using a wrong file. you'll get it, i got it, did the 2.2RUU, just downgraded back to stock 2.1 again and applied the pulled official OTA up and rooted again.

I think I did it by installing a kernel made for Froyo to the stock ROM (would that even mess up the phone that way?) I tried to revert to stock, but nothing worked. I have run the stock RUU for the radio and ROM and nothing makes any difference, I am stuck at the HTC white splash screen (I am still Hboot capable so I could take my custom splash out) and when I go to recovery all I get is a black screen with an error image. Even the old root methods won't get any further.

I was having the same problems and got it figured out. If I were you I'd mess with it as much as possible to try and get it to s-on before sending it back. I wouldn't wanna pay $350 for a phone you don't get to keep.

Just keep running the 2.1 RUU(pull the ROM.zip and rename to PB31IMG.zip and install in hboot) if you have s-off and get into hboot dude you can get it. don't send it back with s-off

"pull the ROM"??? How or where do I get that? I would prefer not sending in an s-off device in if I had a choice, but at least it would only be the insurance deductable if they do catch it. (unless I can stop it from even getting into hboot of course LOL)

I am uploading the ROM file from the first update back in July to my DropBox. I will PM you a share link when it is done. Drop it in the root of your SD Card.
When you get to the black screen with the triangle and exclamation mark, you can press the Up volume button to get in to the stock recovery screen.
