Hello! The droidhunter finally hunted down a Dinc and what a fine peice of work it is. I've really enjoyed this phone and it's features so far. I decided that for my long term use and enjoyment I'd like to root the phone and load the virtuous version of 2.2 and kingxkernel...from what I've read, this combination is both stable and fast (please correct me if you know something I don't).

On to my issue: to make sure I coverd all my bases, I'm using instructions from Jonamerica and the xda forums(root, nand unlock,etc.). I've downloaded all files needed, loaded android hboot drivers(unrevoked modified usb) and am ready to run reflash.exe. Problem is my pc(windows xp) wants to install my phone when I plug in usb...askes for drivers to install (already done I thought) and ultimately fails to recognize the phone which prevents the reflash from finding the phone. It just sits there with a "waiting on phone" message. I'm in debug and ready to go otherwise...

I know this is not brain surgery, and I HATE to show my ignorance but any help would be appreciated...

You need update the drivers using the drivers from unrevoked once you plug the phone in. There's a good explanation on their site public:windows_hboot_driver_install [RootWiki]

Thanks for your reply, having little to no knowledge about this stuff, it took a minute for me to realize that I had to wait for unrevoked 3 to ask for the phone BEFORE I plugged in USB. Drivers were there, just a timing thing on my part.

This is actually going better than I expected for my first time. I've run UR4ever from my sd card, and am not downloading rom mgr for nand unlock. Next radio, froyo and kernel!!!
