DIY - Make a front facing DINC camera for video chat

Has anyone rigged up a device to convert the back camera into a front facing camera? I may experiment with this at some point. In the past I have simply sat in front of a mirror and pointed the camera into the mirror, this way I don't need to flip the phone back and forth to video chat.

However, I am envisioning a device (perhaps made of plastic or cardboard... business cards might even work) with angled mirrors on it, that can sit on top of the phone. One mirror would be facing the camera, the other would be facing you. The second mirror would mirror your image to the mirror facing the camera. Just a thought, I haven't played with this, so the image may be upside down, requiring another mirror. Attached is a paint mock up. I'll post my results when I get around to building one. I encourage others to try and improve upon a design. Could be a cool little project.

They're great to have until you forget it's on... I would definitely be interested though, it would be pretty cool and there's plenty of room on both sides of the phone for a clip to hold it in place.

You might just be on to something. If I weren't so lethargic I would actually think about considering to con someone into making a prototype..

It's funny that this thread popped up, last weak as I was looking at my son's blu tooth low profile adapter for his laptop which connects to USB I thought to myself that someone with the know how can probably come up with a micro USB front facing camera for the incredible. If done right that would be awesome and probably a money maker.

wish there was an adapter from usb to the DInc's connection. I wonder if a rooted phone could add the drivers for the PS3 cam. I use it on my laptop for skype. I would really like some sort of vid chat on my DInc.
I do not believe a USB camera would work, even if there were drivers. I don't think the Incredible has the required hardware to act as a USB Host.

How does everyone feel about this thread getting moved to the tips section. All the froyo threads will most likely kick it to page 2 here. Gonna go ahead and move it, if there are any objections then just pm me or one of the other incredible guides.
Thanks
Since you already moved it - good idea (at least it has a better chance of remaining on the 1st page). I think Accessories would also have been a good place for this.

I believe the current two mirror design would show up as upside down. You could just turn your phone upside down to correct it, but then the other person would be upside down. So you'd have to get TWO phones and turn them both upside down, with these on.

great response. It confuses the shit out of me to even think about it, but im assuming that you have, and its accurate.

So great response and kudos for having more functional brain than me lol
