warranty vibrant on the way, new?

i dont know if my issues are as bad as some that ive read about here, but i just ordered a warranty replacement from my tmo store. i purchased my vibrant on aug 8th, and since then i've had low to nonexistant signal in my home, right next to my daughter who also has tmo and has near full signal. i had a force close message the other morning when i woke up. i don't even know what this means, but it cannot be good (im still new to this), today the phone shut off on its own and would not restart. finally after reinstalling the battery, it came back to life. like others, my gps either dosent work, or takes forever to lock on to me. i have maybe 6 or 7 apps downloaded and maybe 16 songs (that i paid for from amazon), one photo, non-live wallpaper, uninstalled atk, etc. i passed the 14 day return period, so they are gonna send me a warranty out right away. i was concerned that it will be refurbished. they claim that there are no refurbished vibrants yet. warranty will be new. i hope this is true, i just paid $300 sixteen days ago. will it just be a handset that i transfer my sd, sim and battery to? please tell me what to expect.

I just about bricked my Vibrant and called and tried to get a replacement (told them my GPS was screwed up and touch screen was wigging out) from T-Mobile but they did'nt buy it. I ended up just flashing stock firmware back on my phone. Meh...

So what did they say? You mentioned they didn't buy it, but what did you say to them exactly and what did they say to you?

You can end up with either one (new or refurbished). I'm on my 5th Vibrant (various issues with each one) and the only time I got a NEW in box replacement was when I exchanged within the 14 day period. All subsequent replacements have been handset only in a white box.

I would guess at this juncture the possibility of getting a refurbished one is a good one as it has been out long enough for them to start turning around the ones that have been sent in since launch.

I just received the "white box" special as my replacement and assume it to be a refurb. But it could be that they have had enough time and units to ship out replacements without all the accessories so as to be more cost effective.

My experience...

Robo got a factory boxed device, like it was a brand new phone to him. I got the white box.

The device label also isn't a samsung logo like the original on the phone that comes in the white box.

Most of the time, the white boxes are refurbished, unless someone can prove otherwise.

The device label I was referring to, that lacks the samsung logo on the label, also lacks the power rating that technically, all manufacturers put on the devices. I'd say, if you lack the items above, you're device isn't new.
