So a friend of mine came over the other day and I was showing him my Captivate. He has an iPhone, and he liked the Captivate so much that he went and bought one today.

Then I told him to check out some forums and learn how to use it.
He found this forum, and he texted me wondering if he should return the phone, and was asking me if I had been having any of the 100 problems listed here.

I told him no, and that this forum was filled with mostly negativity about the Captivate.

Point is, this forum is a bad influence. There are hardly any posts on "Why I love my Captivate" or "This phone is awesome!".

They are all negative. I wonder how many people found this forum before they considered buying a Captivate and the negative threads on this forum changed their mind and they went and bought an iPhone...

My GPS works great,
and all six of my friends who have a Captivate's GPS's work great.

Hmm..

Seems like it's NOT the end of the story.

If aliens beamed into a hospital they would think we humans sure do get sick a lot, and maybe God botched human beings release.

If they beamed into Disney Land, they would have a different perspective.

well the problem is people come here for help so yea you see a lot of threads about help there are a lot about how to do things but mostly about issues because nobody wants to sit and read thro 200 pages of i love my captivate for the 4" screen then well i love my captivate for this or that. the forum would crash and burn faster than the hindenberg lol.

Immortel why are you lurking around an android forum with your iP4? What makes you unhappy in your fruit world? What makes you venture elsewhere? Really? Nothing personal. I am here myself only because the GPS issue and the lag issue are bugging me somewhat with my Captivate. From what I know and saw, I won't be even at this happiness level with an iP4. I do not visit any apple forum. I do not visit any more android (non Captivate), windows or palm forums. I know the Captivate is the best phone available to me that works great for me. I am happy.

Umm, maybe because I'm free to do what I want. And I did have a captivate up until 2 days ago. I have no faith as of now that samsung will fix the issues that plague the phone. If it was important to them it would already be fixed. I hope they do fix everything so I can grab another one. But for now everything just works on the ip4. I don't have to download a fix for this or a fix for that.

But like I said. I hope samsung proves me wrong and gets this crap fixed. So I'll keep roaming the forums and posting as I please.

Thanks.

Every smart phone has issues period. My brother has an HTC Incredibale from Versizon and guess what. His GPS has issues to, his phone also has a lag but he loves it. I messed around with a friends I-Phone and truly it did nothing for me, so plain, I also played with one at the AT&T store, it was next to the Captivate I'd gone there to buy. I knew when I was buying it that it had some bugs but I also knew that Android's open developement meant lots of customization in the future. I love my phone and I am glad I have it. I have done a lot of the customizations available on the XDA forums and this phone is fast and fun, blows my friends I-Phone away.

Now back to the subject, I am glad to hear that someone has finally posed a rational hypothesis of the GPS problem and possibility of a fix in the future. For my needs it works fine, Google Maps is another story, I know my neighborhood very well and my location is within 20 meters or so of where I am but the map gives inncorrect directions. It says that a location is on the wrong side of the street. This makes me nuts, the GPS functions and Google Maps are wrong. I don't use GPS on the phone, if I want that I will buy a GPS.

Is there a better app for directions than Google's? I can sideload apps too so I don't care about AT&T's market ristriction.

Damn, I don't like these anti-Apple and anti-Captivate debates. The iPhone 4 really rapes, the Captivate rapes. The iPhone has a small problem that Apple doesn't offer a real solution to, since calls don't really drop and the antennae problem is present in less than 40 percent. Even for the 40 percent, the cases do help. As for Samsung, the GPS is the major issue, and Samsung acknowledges it more directly than Apple and promises a real fix, so that's good, too. In terms of specs, they're both pretty equal. Customization is much better on the Captivate, while the App Store is stronger on the iPhone. In the end, they both own.

yea, i dunno.. my captivate is not perfect, but i have no gps issues (other than somtimes it is slow to acquire sats, but is accurate once that is complete). it certainly isn't a showstopper.

Did not mean for any serious person to leave. It was the troll prophylactics, I did not know the intentions and background of the poster I replied to.

My apologies guys!

For the average user, I indeed would recommend the iPhone over the Captivate. The captivate has a lot more potential than the iphone but you have to be willing to invest time and learn. I love to hack and tweak my phones so the Captivate is perfect for me, but for the average user that just wants a phone to work and not mess around with it, I'd recommend the iphone.

i know dude :D was just messing because there are some of us who own multiple devices and the thing i hate most is all the device hate when each device is great for certain people all depends on preference. lol so no hard feelings just thought id defend polydevice users lol but meant nothing serious. no worries

Some people are just bitter and negative about life in general and it shows up in
every area of their lives. These are the same people that whine about their jobs, girlfriends, school, and the city they live in. So it's not surprising that they would whine about their cell phone. The bottom line is this, Samsung created a great.. but imperfect phone that happens to be the best phone I and many people have ever owned(yes I've owned the iPhone 3g). Look at every poll done on this forum and you will find that over 80% of people like this phone. 80%!! The GPS does need a fix and I'm sure it will get it, but even if it never gets fixed, I will still be happy because the phone is well worth the $200 dollars I paid for it.
