Help Referb EVO worse then what I am supposed to send back

So I got my replacement evo today that I was told would be new... its not, I am not very happy about that. but besides that the referb unit is in worse shape then my release day evo. The screen is up level with the bezel and higher in some spots ,the menu soft key only lights up half way and the vibrating is about half as strong as mine. they are both hardware 3. I have not activated it and have been talking to sprint for 2 hours, waiting on a superviser to call me now. I told them if they are not going to send me a new unit at least let me send back the refurb and have somebody physically test my new refurb before send it out to me to make sure it does not have issues. They say I have to send back mine and then after they get it they can send me out a new one...ERRRR:mad: I do not want to use this refurb unit untill I can get another. I am very frustradted with sprint at this point!!!

I am now calling HTC to see what they can do for me under the warenty... Ok He gave me a number for there warenty department but they closed 50 min ago so have to wait for there morning.

It has been half an hour no word from the sprint superviser.

I am done ranting now hopefully this makes sense I wrote it really fast and angry...LOL

Hope everyone else is having a great Tuesday and if you got an EPIC congrats... Let me know how it is...LOL:cool:

You got it rough man. I can only imagine what your next phone will be like. The screen will be completely flush, but still not good enough in some spots. The menu key light up about 2/11ths as much. Vibration will be the perfect strength, but you will swear up and down that it is telling you to kill people in Morse code.....then you'll get help, and you'll like your phone.

I bet your phone is perfect.

He meant the 'refurbished' unit was actually in piss poor shape, even compared to his already messed up Evo.

I wouldn't be too happy in that situation either. Just call them, tell them point blank you're sending the jacked up refurb unit back, and just tell them what requests you have regarding the one they're supposed to send you.

@Thefoodman thanks for understanding

I was not being picky when I wrote that, yes I was frustrated. But yes the "new evo" is worse off then the new one. I had a friend who is not picky about phones look at it a few min ago and compare to the one i have now and he even saw what I was seeing with out pointing anything out.

The main things that really get me are the screen is not below the bevel like it is on my current evo... save a lot of wear and tear if it is recessed just the slightest bit especially if you set it face down and also if it is already above it I feel there is a greater chance for screen separation. Then there is the touch sensitive buttons at the bottom if almost half the light on one of the buttons is already out how soon till the rest of it goes out or the other buttons start going out. Yes I do know what the buttons are with out even having to look but that is not the point. I have not spent any time on it other then turning it on and checking the hardware version so not sure what else may be wrong, there may not be anything else at all. But when I bought it I paid for a quality product and I have one now... EXCEPT the blown speaker. I do not have any of the other issues of screen separation or cracking by the buttons, I do have very very slight light leakage you have to really try to see it, so that does not bother me. So I feel I should not have to downgrade to fix one issue. I would love to have just the speaker replaced. I would even accept a refurb if it was up to par or better.

I got a refurb about two weeks ago. It had MAJOR light leakage, and three dead pixels on the screen. I sent that back, got another refurb the other day. The kickstand is completely scratched up, the red ring around the camera lens is scratched, and here's the big thing, the whole camera lens is cracked. This is why I hate refurbs. Most people will say they are just the same as a new one, I completely disagree. There is NO way these phones should have passed their "inspection".

I have found this odd as well. Why is sprint processing them as insurance claims vs warranty replacement.......or is it just communication error when people post.

First, Sprint tried to give me the insurance run-around for some reason. I believe they just dont want to deal with it, and assume most people will just pay the deductable and not care about it.

Second, with the shortage of evo's, Asurion has plenty of them, so I guess they are trying to use them to ship the evo's since sprint doesnt really have any. I know some people said that sprint paid their deductable, and if thats the case, I think thats fine. But to just tell someone they HAVE to make an insurance claim to fix a phone under warranty is just absurd.

I got a replacement Evo that was a refurb two weeks ago. Mine started working again (internet issue) and the refurb was in slightly worse shape (though, not nearly as bad as some describe here) so I called and they said, no problem, just send back the same one and keep what you have. No problems at all. They even told me the keep the charger and extra battery that they sent with it and to "only send back the handset."

Dude, I feel your pain. I was sent a refur'd unit because my EVO had dust under screen and light leakage. I asked them not to send me a refurb BUT the idiots did anways and it had light leakage and screen separation. I spent the next few hours on the phone with 3 different Sprint reps. I finally found one to help me. The 1st idiot told me top file a complaint with Asurion and told me the I can pay the deductible to get another EVO. I told him he was crazy. The last individual actually contacted Asurion and Sprint paid the deductible and Asurion sent me a Brand New Evo a week later (over night) when they received some in. I then had a HORRIBLE time trying to explain to the next few idiots that I had to send my original EVO to Asurion and I needed to send the refur'd unit back to Sprint. Well suffice it to say I spent the next two days trying to return the refurb'd unit back to Sprint (a nightmare to say the least). I eventually had them send me a return label and I sent it back the very next day. This was Friday Aug 20th (I have and gave them idiots the UPS Tracking Number). They have harassed me the last two days asking where the refurb'd unit is. I gave them the UPS tracking number and they still are harassing me. I now loathe and hate SPrint customer service and have filed a complain with the BBB and the California State Attorney Generals office.

Nope, when I asked if it will be a new or refrub he said it would be refurb. I said I had heard a lot of refurbs had problems and he said I could get a new one if I went through aussrion, but i just said to send me a refurb, did not want to pay the deductible, so I guess if people ask for a new one they give them that option. If there is something wrong with the one they send I will complain till they send me a new one, lol. I really don't want to send back my current evo, only has a little bit of light leak. But today it just stopped connecting to 4g, and keeps roaming, and while it roams i can't make any calls or send texts which has been going on for almost a month off and on. If I try to make a call I get VZ telling me to put in a credit card. They reset it on their system but still did not work, the phone just hung on the device config screen for awhile, so they said it was a problem with the phone and had to replace it. Should get it by Friday, hopefully i am lucky like some here and get a new one :).
