Anyone try a kiNgxKernal with virtuous 2.3? I just rooted for the first time and love how blazing fast and stable my phone is. Well it was already fast just faster now. I did the whole unrevoked3 and forever and 2.15 radio update thingies. I'm new at this so be easy on me :D

I don't want to benchmark quadrant and linpack I just want great battery life and a super fast phone thanks!

PS. Should I wipe my battery thing to make it read correctly? If so how do I do this? tx

Testing this combo right now. Honestly, other than the ridiculous quadrant scores, I really can't tell the difference under normal use. Too early to tell how it's affecting battery life for me. I was already getting great life, so I have pretty high expectations for this in combination with setcpu profiles.

If you want to reset your battery starts, charge fully (bump charge), go into clockwork->advanced->wipe battery stats

Awesome thx for the reply. When you say "ridiculous" you mean good right? Or low?

Thx for the info on resetting batt stats ;) a quick question....is it recommended doing this wipe batt stats?

Look forward to your results!

I think rmk at xda is posting up 2.4 tonight :D

Ridiculously high. I got 1588 with little effort at 1.13. I really don't care about these things though. I worry about real usage. As long as my phone performs well, I don't care what the benchmark score is. I've had no complaints with any ROM I've used. This is the first time I'm trying a different kernel on this phone, just to see how it performs compared to stock.

As for battery stats, I haven't reset mine before. Some people have had problems with stats not actually matching up with the actual power left in the battery. It certainly wouldn't hurt to do it though.

Hey DizkoDan I have a question albeit a newb one. I'm in clockworkmod recovery and about to install a MOD (hide clock). I've put it on the sd card do I choose "apply sdcard:update.zip" or "install zip from sdcard"? TIA

Great battery life btw!

install zip from sd card.

I'd also recommend that if you do have any update.zip or PB31IMG.zip files on your SD card, you move them out of the root so you don't accidently install those ;)

Yeah, me too. Running kiNgxKernal BFS#1 with Virtuous 2.3.
I wanted stock Froyo Sense with select stuff removed, but running faster and this seemed to fit the bill.
Seems pretty stable. I also love the Quadrant scores (I just clocked 1337 with everything freshly booted and no apps killed) but really only care about real day to day functionality. I'm hesitant to get the latest kiNgxKernal BFS#2/3 since I'm concerned about taxing my battery just to get it to charge faster. From everything I've read, heat is bad for extended life on batteries. So I think I'll skip that one for now.. or maybe grab that one, and skip the next one that he's claiming will make it charge even faster.

I just installed virtuous 2.4, im new to flashing kernals, what is the best king kernal to use?

rmk at xda who posted about this virtuousRom said go for BFS #2. I still have not loaded another kernel I'm still on stock it's so stable and my batt life is great. I'll try a new kernel soon if you go through with it post your results please :)

btw I'm new at all this too!

jbdan,

Just wanted to follow up with my initial results. I had the phone unplugged for about 39.5hrs the past 2 days, and finally plugged it in when I went to bed last night. It was still at like 35%, so I assume I could have gotten at least another few hours out of it. So that said, my battery life is slightly improved. However, I think this has more to do with the SetCPU profiles I setup, than the kernel itself. However, I do have the phone OC'd to 1.13ghz, so there's that to take into consideration as well.

Reminder to those reading only this post, this is on the seidio 1750mAh battery. BFS #1.

Wow great rtesults! Thx for sharing. Would you mind sharing your setcpu profile/s or is that something that is more user dependent? Thx again I think I'm going to bfs 1 tonight if I get some time off work!

I am on virtuous with kingxkernal and bfs 1 with radio 2.15. I have had for about three days.

Initially it was awesome. Like the phone I always wanted. (Coming from 8/1 Froyo and 2.05 radio).

Yesterday it random rebooted.
My Good Clock started alarming after every reboot.
My home screen would force close (could be app related maybe like QuickDeck which I just started using)
My MLB AtBat started eating the CPU (i used OS Monitor to determine this) every couple hours. i would force close it but it would start up automatically and eat cpu after some time.

Overall, I do think it is really great and if others are not having problems I would give it a try. It is getting my phone to where it needs to be.

Also, my phone doesn't drop calls anymore. It used to VERY bad on Froyo 2.2 8/1 ROM with Radio 2.05.

Just flashed virtuous2.5 and kings BFS#2. Also using setcpu now. Will see how it works tomorrow, but I must say its feeling really smooth and fast....more so than with the stock virtuous kernel. Man this is fun reminds me of my PC building and OC'ing days :D I can't believe I'm doing it on a phone now lol
