So I really want to rid myself of those crappy bloatware programs..and because there is no free app that I can find that allows me to kill a task, and keep it from restarting...I'm thinking off a root. Or buying a damn restart app killer, anyway, If rooted the the phone, is there an OS out that looks like the current one for the slide? I wouldn't mind putting 2.2 on the damn thing either, but I don't want to lose the look of the phone right now. Thanks!

If you want 2.2 don't wait on T-mobile to get it to you. It may never happen.

Hmm..its not a problem for me to get those apps, its just i'm unsure of how to root and install that update then add the apps :/ I read the how to root but i'm still unsure. I'm used to doing this stuff with Blackberries and not Android.

Then don't do it. Sell it and cancel Tmo and get a Droid 2 if you want to keep the newest version of android.
