Hokay,

Here's my feedback on four different cases from ebay:

1
Hard Rubber Case

If you're never going to have to remove this is fine BUT....it's a two piece case. It's held together with clips which will break if you ever try and split the two pieces apart. Chucked in the bin after having to open and the bottom left corner clip breaking.

1
Rubberised Hard Back Case

From what I can see, this is the equivalent of the Case mate Barely There ( but heaps cheaper ) . Nice backing case. Not a lot of protection on the top front or bottom front of your Desire, but will protect the back and the corners well. Nice fit and has a slightly rubber feel to it in your hand.

Soft Net Hole Back Case

Originally saw this one in the original case post here. Similar to the Barely There and the copy above but covers more of the top and bottom of the Desire compared with the Barely there and the one above ( look at the pictures of coverage around the USB port and the power button and headphone socket ) . Still does leave the front top and bottom a little exposed. Nice fit. More of a "plasticky" feel to it than the back cover above.

Silicon Soft Plastic Case

What drew me to this case was the clear back with the black sides, something just a bit different from the all one colour silicon cases. My workmate and I debated if the black was actually a seperate part or just a painted area...well, it is actually two piece's "fused" together. Black surround and a nice clear back . There's no cutouts for the power button or volume but there's raised indicators on the case so you can feel where they are. This is a really nice ,well fitting case ( which is reflected in the "more expensive" Ebay price :D

What I love about the Desire is the nice slim form factor, and while I wouldn't say adding this case makes it "bulky", I like the look/feel of the back cases more. If I didn't use a pouch this would be the case I'd use with a screen protector.

Note all these cases are available from a number of Hong Kong sellers. The ones I've used were very efficient in getting the goods to Australia, but this is not an endorsement of the seller, but a comparison of the various cases.

My current winner is the Soft Net Hole Back Case just for it's light weight and slightly better coverage and Vikuiti Screen Protector however I also keep my phone in a Saddleback Leather Gadget Pouch so I'm willing to put up with a bit less protection ( I do have a Stealth Guard coming which I might add to the top and bottom only ) These are 4-5 oz full grain leather pouches. Not the cheapest around but if you're looking for that "rugged" leather look this leather products are the bee's knees ( and warranted for 100 years :D ) . Just don't start looking at their other goods.....expensive but once you've got one in your hand you'll see why the warranty.

Hope this helps someone :D
