And this helps us in the Droid X forum how? just makes us even more mad we haven't got it yet...
Yeah, I know I get super mad when a phone that's been out longer than mine and has had more development time than mine has gets an update. It's crazy. I expect phones with the least amount of development time to get updates first.

It wasn't about just an older device getting it first it is about how EVERYONE should have it by now.

"No apparent reason"?
Are you privvy, or do you expect to be privvy, to all of Motorola's software design, coding, testing and distribution practices?
The OS doesn't just get dumped onto the phone, you know. If anything, the frequent reports of issues with the leaked version should show you that there was still work to be done on it.

And if they released it before it was ready and had problems, the same people would complain.
You just can't talk sense into the heads of some people.
Because he says so D$%#N IT! Frankly I personally think 3.0 should be on all phones NOW. Hear me Verizon quit holding back for no apparent reason!!!.
If you really want 2.2 go get it it's out there.
because the 2.2 froyo has been done since before the phone was even released
So let me get this straight you are a software developer? and you know the exact way that things are done when creating a new OS?
Yeah you know about those "issues" you speak of... well what do ya know ALLLLLLL OS have them that is why there are updates and new versions coming out and being created, no one expects a perfect OS,
because the 2.2 froyo has been done since before the phone was even released
binary, I completely understand what you're saying, but what I don't really understand is why the Droid 2 with the same basic CPU, GPU, RAM, UI, etc. was released with Froyo 3 weeks ago and has received a subsequent update while we're still waiting until some unknown time for it.
However, one can pretty easily envision the potential benefit in marketing against the Android 2.1 Fascinate if the Droid X were to happen to start running Android 2.2 at the same time. Why that would be almost like announcing a new phone the day before a competitor's scheduled major new product introduction! Anybody think a 9/8 or 9/9 release for the Froyo update is a possibility?
