Okay so my phone went down to about 50% battery today. I have the HTC HERO from Sprint. I plug it in the wall to charge, light comes on everything is fine. I check back an hour or more later the battery is down to orange (low) and Im thinking what is going on? Now my phone is dead, I plugged it into the computer but it still wont turn on, but the orange light shows up. Do I need a new Battery, new charger? I don't think I should have to pay for a replacement battery or phone, because this one is faulty. Any Suggestions??

First thing I would do is take the battery out and then put it back in, then try charging it again and give it about 15 minutes to charge a little, then try turning it on while it is still in the charger, and hopefully it will turn on, if it does then check on the screen and see if the battery icon is moving as showing it is charging, if not then I would call Sprint and either have them send you a new charger or a battery, or take it into a sprint repair store near you and have them check it, you may have a bad USB cable

The same thing has been happening to me, and pretty much right off the bat. What I found is that when I let my phone battery drain all the way, and I plug it in, it takes about five minutes for the phone to even turn on. And I need to press the power button for it to turn on. Even a red light is something. Today, however, my phone has been dead for hours. I've got it charging from my competer (USB) and I even drove around for awhile to see if I could get a charge that way. I'm going to use the AC charger overnight. My charging unit is less than six weeks old. Did you get your phone going? (I've taken the battery in and out a zillion times.)

Just as a word to the wise. It is not good for the battery to let it drain all the way repeatedly and often. Lithium Ion batteries, like the one your Sprint HTC Hero has, like to be charged often and even before they are low, unlike older Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hydride batteries that you SHOULD let drain all the way.

Now, it IS a good idea to let the battery of your Sprint HTC Hero discharge all the way every once in a while because it resets the internal charging circuit inside the battery so you get a more accurate reading on your handset. I do this about every two or three months depending on how heavily I have used it during that time period.

And remember Charging from the USB from your PC will be a lot slower as it charges in trickle effect

mine seems to not charge when hooked to the computer. the light comes on and the battery icon moves but when i take it off the computer it's deader then when i put it on. does teathering and pandora use more battery faster then it can charge?
