After reviewing the the first half of the Apple keynote, I am now drooling for their new products especially the new game from Epic Studios using its Unreal Engine. As I look to my right I see my Droid X; the smart device that I now heavily rely on for extreme entertainment. However as I match the perks between the two companies Google and Apple, I realize that Apple seems to have the better stuff! Thus making me have second thoughts on laying my foundations as a customer to Android. Will Android step their game up? I really hope so besides the upcoming Froyo update for Droid X users.

rumors are that Google is pairing up with sony to bring better gaming to android. If this actually happens and its made available for all phones not just sony ones it will be a huge leap for android gaming

That keynote was more fail than anything else:

-Shuffle, same as the 2nd gen, you took 2 years to realize what a good design you had
-Nano, AHAHAHAHA seriously what the hell, tiny touch screen whats the point
-iPodtouch, exactly what was expected
-Gaming stuff, personally dont care (music, audio books, podcasts and ebooks on the move if i want to game i want to GAME)
-Apple TV (woo they obviously havent bought out iTV yet, yay for british ppl) not mature enough give streaming tv topboxes a year or 2 and ill say hell yeah

Basically nothing for me here that makes me feel bad for owning android.

...Shuffle...
Exactly, just like they did with the Nano when they changed the format, before reverting back...
...Nano, AHAHAHAHA seriously what the hell, tiny touch screen whats the point...
Not to mention it's lost it's video camera AND the ability to play video!!
...Apple TV... ...a year or 2 and ill say hell yeah...
In a year or two aren't most TVs going to include hardware to make this redundant??

Seems like Apple are becoming even more centered around iTunes & iTMS.

IF, and it's a big IF Google can launch a media service to truly compete in simplicity and function with Apple's offering, including Android getting a really good media player the same across all handsets, then Apple could find themselves in some trouble. But IMO it'll only work if it's seamlessly integrated with Android AND a desktop (not cloud) media program to equal iTunes; and it HAS to be coherently and branded as Google's, not ruined and diluted in the consciences of the consumers with different versions/looks/features from HTC and Moto etc. over the top.

As for Ping? meh.

I read somewhere that the games might only be compatible with phones that have PSP slide-out controls on them.

Hopefully Android [and Sony] don't split this community and only release this stuff on Sony products.

Yep it would be very damaging for both Sony and Android especially when Sony's arch nemisis, Microsoft is releasing their Windows Phone 7 series that expands Xbox Live capabilities to their phone.

I doubt it would be damaging for Android - only for the 18 and under crowd.

These phones are primarily designed for adults as personal assistants for multi-tasking and useful applications.. keeping up to date with life easily and staying organized. Having the entire world at their finger tips.

I guess I underestimated the amount of teenagers who's parents buy them smart phones just for gaming. If only they knew why their kids really wanted a smart phone.

The demographic of 18+ will not be affected by a phone that has better gaming. Android is fine.

Well, some of us like to keep busy on the commute to and from work, especially if it's on a subway and there is no connection ;)

Gonna catch ya here with your own tounge before you can pull it back... for us 'older' folks actually USING the phones, we enjoy some of the older stuff. Wait... don't we have emulators they don't that run the stuff we love? :p

Hell, I'm only 19 and I like the older stuff more than some of the new stuff. I play the living s@#t out of Sonic and love it more than I do some stuff on my PS2 or my 360. The fact that I can play it on the go, AND at home, that's awesome. Not to mention all the goodness of games that were on the Genesis... damnit.... now I'm gonna go get another 5 roms to play at work on break tomorrow....

Sir you have no idea.

It bugs the crap out of me on a daily basis.

I hate todays "gaming" crowd.. "I call myself a gamer.. but, its not worth it to bring a psp or ds around! infact... all I really play is halo on my 360 and whatever game comes out on iphone"

With that said.. I am ... dissappointed? I guess would be the word...

I was a little impressed with the iphone 4 I will admit.. its a nice screen its amazing they stuck the A4 in there.. but, on the flip side..

Its not by "chance" that the same processor is now in 3 different devices.. And it makes the ipad seem like such a horrible buy.. there are phone's that are just as powerful as it?.... a media player as well? People have the right to spend money on whatever they want and the only justification they need to give me is "I wanted to"..

But, I do often sit back and get disgusted with the fact that so many kids in my hometown (and well the new town I live in) have iphones and droids as "gaming devices"... its pretty sickening that people pay 30$ a month for a device that is basically a toy... but, also... its really because these days phone's are the newest fashion statement.. Get an iPhone, droid or blackberry, you will look super cool! (I'm saying this because I actually sell cell phone's)... People want whats "newest" and "coolest" to hell with what it could be used for.. (bugs the crap out of me actually.. that I could get pretty decent use out of a smart phone but, can't get one due to being on a parents contract/completely and perpetually broke)... THe irony? by the time I get out of school and can afford one... It won't be as needed because, I will have a set schedule and a 9-5 job.. oppose to now where I could be at work.. and would do well to receive that email before the end of the night.. instead of the next day when I check my email in the morning....

However, the bottom line usually falls back to this.. the customer doesn't know *what* they have they don't care if its an A4 or snapdragon humming bird or dual core scorpion I believe is the rumored one I've heard about.. all they care about is having something new and shiney and completely useless to show off to their friends..

With that said.. I must admit I have 2 or 3 friends who really do get use out of it school related.. Schedule their classes, check email, and use it to really balance out their life.

Anyway.. Am I the only one who finds it ironic the QUALITY of the music was never once mentioned?....... Especially since you would think since its an mp3 line they would try to appeal to an audiophile or two... since from what i've seen most audiophiles feel apple is a joke at best..
