Anyone Tried Smoothing Out a Scratch On the Body?

My Incredible took its first fall yesterday. Considering I have nothing but a screen protector on the phone, I'd say it came out just fine. That said, there are a few rough feeling scratches on the body right above the screen near the power button (on the glossy black part facing the front). I was wondering if anyone has tried smoothing out some scratches successfully? Can't really see it, but I feel it every time I push the Power button or hold the phone in a certain way, and well, while I'll get over it, for now it annoys me.

I used a manicure file that has the multiple surfaces from rough to fine shine. It works O.K. but you run the risk of making the small scratches a much bigger uneven patch. Also, to get it smooth you really need to work at it and then you further risk getting scratches on the screen.

I dropped mine several times getting scratches everywhere so it was just too much to buff all of them out. Thought about buying a new OEM body, but I just decided to get a silicone cover for the case.

Yeah, if you saw the scratches I'm talking about you'd probably think I'm nuts for even wanting to try.

I have the VZW Silicone High Gloss case, I just haven't used it in like 2 months. Once I took it off to swap my battery out, I realized how much nicer the phone is without a case. That said, yesterday was a close call, and I could've ended up with a smashed screen, so I think I may go back to the case.

I got a seidio innocase...then took it off to swap batteries also and had the same revelation...this phone is awesome without a cover! So needless to say...two days later I had my phone on my bed and also a belt...well i grabbed my belt to put away and the buckle smacked the phone...and wham huge ding in the bezel...:(

EDIT: Went back to the case so you cannot see the scratch...lol

The Meguiar's MirrorGlaze lineup used to have some liquid abrasive for polishing out acrylic. I've used it on motorcycle windshields and it works fine. Not sure what it's called since they renumbered everything though, and I also don't know what plastic the Dinc body is made of - so take this for what it's worth. :)

I use the high gloss silicone case and actually prefer it. It makes the phone feel a bit more solid in my hand. I always feel like the phone is going to slip out of my hands without it.

I felt this exact same way, until I was playing with the phone for a couple days without the case. When it came time to put it back on, I couldn't get myself to do it. The fall is probably a sign I need to, because I've seen too many smashed Incredibles on this forum from minor drops.

If you have insurance on your phone, smash it to pieces, pay the deductable, and get a new/reconditioned one. Seriously, I wouldn't worry about a few scratches. You'll get over it. I know that I'll be dropping my phone sooner or later and I hope that I'll only have a few minor scratches as well. All the best.

:D

I agree, I've since gotten over it.
