Battery usage on Andrioid 2.2

this thread directed at those that did not root or unlock their HTC desire
but uses its original android..

before i go on, my standard usage is as follows,
mostly sms using, a phone call or two, less than an hour of wifi browsing at night..

on android 2.1, my battery lasted roughly 2 days and a bit more..

after updating to android 2.2 via wifi through auto update on the phone.
today was my third day after charging my phone to 100%.
its now almost 5pm, on my third day and my battery still has a whopping 40% of battery life left..

so just wondering whether anyone else have this miraculous boost of battery life with android 2.2 or not..

My phone is a standard factory updated 2.2 handset. My usage is fairly similar to yourself and I find my battery life is just as it was before whilst on 2.1 - about 1.5 days (ish) no real change I can detect.

I'm pretty sure the variance we see from person to person can often be explained by whether they are in bad/low reception area where the phone is constantly seeking a better signal (including G/3G/H problems etc).

At first it was kinda a challenge to try and get as much out of the battery as possible but now I just don't worry about it ... just use what I need and charge it when I can.

On my first desire I was getting a good couple of days out of the battery with above average use, 2nd desire (replacement for a dodgy screen on the first) came with froyo already installed - cant be arsed rooting again, yet - I am easily seeing 3 days or more of battery and my usage has increased......

So I concur with the OP that froyo has increased the battery life.

I also agree that way too much is made of the battery life issue.....Its down to the user and how they use it rather than the battery being rubbish in most cases IMO!

I'm not here to boast or laugh at anyone..

i'm just really surprised that my battery life had boosted by this much..
and I dare say my use has significantly rose because i tend to wifi browse with it a little more than usual when it was still in android 2.1

but I just thought of something that might have some factor in this boost of battery life.

i recently bought this power battery backup thingy that i can use to recharge my HTC with. lemme see, the name is "mPower Universal Battery Pack". its not very high end (though not as cheap as I hope it should be).

basically i can use this battery pack to charge my HTC 1 and a half times.
tuesday night (it's friday evening for me now), my htc was at 20% so I charge it with this battery pack for the fun of it till 100%, and is using my htc until now.

its almost 3 and a half days of usage for me now.. and its at 30%.

i'm not sure whether this is a factor to the boost, but I thought i might as well note it down in case someone else out there has the same stuff I do now and experienced the same situation..

p.s ;- additional notes.. I turned off gps, location tracking, bluetooth and wifi.. I only enable wifi when I am browsing for fun..

damn, tef... I was looking for something like yours..

because I got bucket loads of rechargeable AA batteries but no real usage for them..
i figure something like that would be very useful both to recharge my phone as well as to put some use for the rechargeables.. haha..

oh well.. can't weep and regret since I already bought this mPower thingy..

Same here, I've a handful of Li-Ion AA's laying around from cameras and TV remotes. That thing would be quite useful on long trips.

sigh, i think i got snookered..

the mPower battery pack I mentioned?
the salesperson says it can charge my phone for a total of 120%.

went experimenting on this claim..

charge the mpower to full, used my phone till 30% (friday night 10:29pm , took 2 hours 16 minutes to charge to 100%)
from there charge it to 100%..

today , wednesday 9:00 am, i charge my phone from 20% to 30% before the mpower went flat..

thats shows my mpower battery pack can only charge for up to 80% only..
