Help Keyboard Response Question

Hello All,

I am having a lot of difficulty with my keyboard in both landscape and portrait. I am using the "Android Keyboard" that came with the phone. Examples of what I am referring to:

1. Wrong Key Showing: I type one letter and a different one is actually displayed.
2. Horrible Response: I get half way through an email and realize I need to fix an error in the middle of the paragraph. Trying to get the cursor where I want it a extremly hard to do and often it will move, but not where it is suppose to be moved to. Other times the cursor simply doesn't move at all and I have to erase all the back to where the error is and than retype. And no the cut and paste or copy and paste do not work since the cursor is not moving.
3. Random sentences just erase: I will be typing and hit the back key to erase a character, but instead it erases a line or two and won't stop.

Is anyone else having this problem? Suggestions and no I am not going to root and void the warranty.

Thanks!

No, you can get shapewriter from the market. I loaded HTC over the web. Just long press on a text entry and switch input method to the keyboard of your choice.

I did as you suggested and it only provides the Adroid Keyboard, NO other choices. My phone cannot sideload since it is not rooted. I went to he Market, ut nothing there appears any better and the one I wanted, SWYPE, was not there. Maybe not available on 1.6??

You can't get shapewriter? You can sideload apps without being rooted, just download them to the SD card, search for them using astro (on the market) and install.

Once downloaded, sometimes you need to make sure you find the app and configure it before it will become an option. Took me a while to figure some of this stuff out.

Swype hasn't been in the market forever.

SWYPE was the best keyboard I had ever used (Once I got the hang of it), but the sad part is, it is NOT on the X10. However, at least we in the states didn't get the clunky SE keyboard, instead we got the Android key board (Which isn't much better). I must wonder why they only chose to put one keyboard on the phones, when Samsung Galaxy S phones have three; the Galaxy S keyboard, the Android keyboard and the SWYPE keyboard. All awaiting your for your selection.

I did find a really nice keyboard for my large hands, which improves the use of the X10, ten fold. It is the "THICKBUTTONS KEYBOARD". Definately try it out as it is a FREE app and there is no pro version as ar as I know. I'm hanging onto this one until we get 2.1 and hopefully SWYPE will be available!

Good Luck!
