Final Fantasy XIII

So i just wanted to share my love for FFXIII (ps3). I really do think this is probably one of the best gaming experiences i have ever had. It embodies everything i have ever wanted in a game, except the soundtrack... it's not that i don't like the soundtrack, it's just too repetitive for too long and no way to turn just the bgm off...

Any thoughts?

I played it for a while on one of my friends' PS3s and really liked it. Felt more like playing a game inside a movie than anything. I'm getting ready to start the FFXIV beta tonight though! Already have the collector's edition preordered, haha.

Were you an XI player? I been thinking about trying beta. Saw yesterday it was pushed to today. Might give it a try.

I am not sure if my laptop will be able to play this. If it can, then I will be playing on my computer. Otherwise, I will be waiting on the PS3 version as I cannot afford a new computer right now (Even though I was considering purchasing a new one in another thread, financially I cannot afford it atm.).

Yeah I played XI on Quetzalcoatl. The open beta starts tonight at 10PM EST. To get the update, there's a trick to load the torrent file in a program like uTorrent. Makes the update go a LOT faster (like 2 hours as apposed to 12). I'll definitely let you know how it goes though My brother got into beta phase 3, which lasted all of 3 days, lol..

Did you run the benchmark? You can always just lower the graphics settings to get it to run.

Ya I played XI long time ago.. some older friends showed me how to do that utorrent thing.. its all rdy to go for today if I can find the time.

Final Fantasy 13 is a decent RPG game, I must say it was a total letdown some of the choices the made in that game. For being a Final Fantasy (new) i'd say it's a good game that way, I loved the music and the inane graphics in the game. I was starstruck the whole game, it was just brilliant in so many ways. I totally loved the visual scenes of the game and how masterful each detail was in the game...

but I just didn't like the choice of "world map", I don't mind a linear game - but give me the world map and those lush cities I remember from old times. Nothing was like going sightseeing in Alexandria or Lindblum for that matter in Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 7 torn game map was another great feature. Which I felt was lacking totally in the last games, some complain that's way to old features, but I think they should keep the key elements that had before in their RPGs and be innuative in other ways. Dare I say that the fighting system was fun, bit too easy - but fun nevertheless!

I also felt they are underestimating us in general with not implenting japanse voice option and just english text. Since I wanted run through almost every char's head through a nice brick wall at times. Which can be really frustrating, since it's taking away the mood and the story by really trashy performances in English there.

But they did show some great steps that they have taken, even as one the biggest fans of Japanese RPGs - I must say, for the time being the western RPG world is much better. I also really look forward to the next FF Versus 13 game as well, rumours say the worldmap is returning and cities you can move more freely in!

Oh, last thing: I also missed a lot of the sidegames. No cardgame for my gambling tendancy is a no go *laughs* and no normal vendors! *shake his hands*

Despite that, I still think it was a good game - it did glue me to my seat for 64 hours.

Just so ya know, I haven't been on much since FFXIV is amazing so far A few gripes (cannot find fire crystals to craft with!?) but the game itself is beautiful and refined and I can't wait to pick up my CE on the 22nd!

I am not liking it.. dunno UI seems glitchy and slow. Movement kinda weird now also. I understand its a beta but it would have to make great strides by release for myself to want to claim my preorder...

A lot of the slowness is server-side. They have a ton of logging and analyzing processes running now that won't be after release. I have found that after the update this morning things were already running a lot smoother.

I'll probably give it a try really close to release date after a lot is hopefully fixed to run smoother. I really did like FFXI.. but eventually it got to be too much of a schedule then fun. Hopefully this is better.

They have cactaurs and cockatrices, if that entices you at all, lol.... The cactaurs can use 1000 needles though (1000 damage to each person), and it's AoE, so it'll most likely take out your entire party (it did mine, haha)
