I am having all three of these issues with my X and after speaking with Verizon they won't exchange anymore because they say these are known issues with no fixes for them yet. It sounds like Verizon is selling defective devices and not being honest to the customer before they purchase the Droid x. The tech from Verizon told me they became aware of these issues on August 12th 2010. I am tired of buying a smart phone and finding out later it has issues that were known by the carrier!

sorry to here about your troubles but a friend of mine has the droid 2 and he is experiencing exactly what you are talking about. i think it's defective hardware that causes the signal to be lossed and then the phone to reboot constantly. i have had the X for just about 1 month now and not once has it rebooted on me, its pretty rock solid. I dont have any task managers installed and I am on the stock 2.1 that came with the phone. the only time i have ever experienced a lockup was with google translate and their text to speech option. but even then eventually just waiting it came back.

If you go onto Moto's support website you can see that they are aware of it and hopefully the official 2.2 will fix all three. It is not right for Verizon to continue too sell the X without informing the buyer of these issues first!

My DX is on order... getting nervous reading about all these problems. But.... Coming from a Storm 1 to a DX "with" these issues is probably still a better phone and experience. lol

Ugh... I can't fathom why Blackberry released the original Storm with all of those issues. It was truly a disaster of a phone. I despised mine because it was incredibly laggy and kept freezing.

I had the 3G issue the first 1-2 days I had the phone. It either went away or the .604 update fixed it.

Rebooting, nope.

Freezing up...I think I remember some freeze ups. It was in the middle of doing 3-4 things at the same time and trying to get back to some task fast, trying to hurry and and close an app, etc.

I got my Droid X on August 17th, and have had quite a few freezes, and a handfull of reboots. I still like the phone a lot, and hope that 2.2 will fix it... HOWEVER, I guess I expected more out of this phone. It was hyped as faster, bigger, better, etc. It does have a lot of great features, but my wifes Incredible was a lot faster than mine until I installed Launcher Pro.

I was doing atleast 2 battery pulls a day on my storm 1 by the time I got my X. I hated that phone with a passion by the time I switched

I am having the same issues as others. In the last 2 days my phone has completely frozen 4 times. All but one of the freezes have been related to some sort of sms function. The first of the freezes occured when I was playing a game of angry birds, and I recieved an SMS popup alert. The second happened in the middle of using the stock text messaging application for a simple SMS reply. The same with the third freeze. After each of these three freezes, the phone automatically rebooted itself.

After becoming frustrated with the issues, I factory reset the phone today. Not an hour after my factory reset, while configuring Beautiful Widgets (current version, freshly dl'd from the marketplace.) the phone froze. I then tried using the sleep button to escape the hiccup, after the home and back buttons would not work, but the phone was completely "dead". The phone was completely unresponsive, with a blank screen. I had to perform a battery pull to revive it.

I have also had a few occasions where my 3g was supposedly working, but I was unable to use data. The 3g icon and signal strength were at the top of the screen, but when I tried to use the browser or marketplace, I received connection errors.

At this point I am at a bit of a loss. I am beyond my 30 day window of return. I have been extremely meticulous with the care of my phone, and I do not want to get rid of it for a refurb.

I am really hoping after seeing the number of people with similar issues, that the real issue is with the firmware on the phone. I'm really looking forward to the official Froyo (2.2) update, to see if I will still have these similar issues.

It is rather disappointing that the many droid X users (including myself) are having issues like this. The X is supposed to be the absolute best phone on the market right now.
