Latest Update Ruining Droid Experience

Ever since the OS updated 3 weeks ago my phone is horribly laggy and glitchy. The number of FCs I'm getting has gone through the roof. FCs from stock phone apps, not from 3rd party apps. The app that makes the actual phone calls FCs at least twice a week. Home screen wont show icons. Icons take forever to appear. Everything is much much slower now.
Even youtube vids wont buffer fast enough. They keep pausing to buffer and it becomes irritating to watch anything. Never had any of these issues prior to this last update.

Anyone else? Any fixes?

I had my D1 crash and burn with the 2.2 update.... warranty covered it and I am enjoying a D2... FTW

Hard and soft resets did nothing for mine.
It's as though I never did them.

I hear a lot of people saying their lag issues and such are gone with the newest update. Have you not been prompted for it yet?

You are likely asking the OP, but, I have not received the latest OTA.
I am hoping it does improve things.

Well I wish I could give you my prompt, its driving me crazy LOL.

Might be able to restart your phone then have it look for updates, there may also be threads on here about forcing the update.

I would take it from you if I could!
I should get the update soon and plan to await the OTA.

But....if this does not fix my many problems with 2.2 I will be Rooting.
2.2 has just about driven me off that cliff.

all this trouble with VZW's froyo update just blows my mind
My rooted Droid rocks with Froyo maybe they should have clocked up the kernel a bit more to say 800mhz

If given a choice of stock speed with 2.1.1 or 10-GHz with 2.2....I would take stock.

The phone ran VERY well before the 2.2 update. I was quite happy with it.

If you like to stay stock then ... complain to VZW loud enough and maybe they will toss you a Droid2 *611 is your friend

I may do just that but will wait and see what the 2.2 update-update brings.
If it runs smoother, and they fix the Certificates issue, and they get rid of most of the glitches I will leave it alone until November.....my renew-for-2 will mean a new device for me.

I have been a big Moto fan since the StarTac but, the new samsungs are grabbing my attention lately.

Custom Roms can be a lot more stable than the current Froyo release VZW has pushed out. Even if your phone is running horribly on the OTA Froyo, it could be a lot better on a custom rooted Rom, especially if you overclock.

A factory reset may help you but, be sure to back up what you need cuz your gonna lose all your data on the phone. Your SD card will be safe tho.

Got tired of battery issues, lagginess, freezing and just plain slow. Verizon told me to try a factory reset. So i did it yeaterday afternoon and while it was powering up it had the second ota update. So got really excited and set everything up and I had none of my free apps, just the paid ones. Downloaded a few that I needed and called it a day. This morning after charging phone over night I turned the phone on with 100% battery. After some use, the battery is down to 30% after only being on for 4 hours. What is my problem now. Nothing unusual on the battery usage page.

The battery starts to discharge after it is full so it won't overcharge the battery and damage it. It says 100% but it is not.

Rooting is as simple as downloading an app and pressing one button. Then you can get setcpu and overclock (choose autodetect not droid on setup) and/or get ROM Manager and have it intall a custom ROM.

The answer is your phone is not actually charged all the way even though the battery meter says it is.

i thought I explained that in post 18. The battery stops charging even if the phone is plugged in at 100%...then the plugged in phone starts to use up the battery even if the battery meter tells you it is at 100%

If I have frg22d, is it still that simple? From what I have read, it is not!
