N64 Emulator

is there one out? i know that the moment for example has the power to run project 64, so is it possible to port it? or is someone making an emu for N64?

not gonna happen dude.... the moment has an 800mhz arm processor which cant emulate the n64 nor can the video harware...
you lose alot of power in emulation

i wish though zelda 64 on android would be fun

well someone else on the forum said min requirements for project 64 are a 6or700 MHZ processor and 128mb of ram. the moment has both. idk what kind of graphics tho...

700 mhz x86 (x64) processor
Arm processors are a whole different beast....
and even if the hardware was sufficient ( it is not trust me)
the code is in an entirely different language.
as much as this would rock we will never see pj64 android.
and on the off chance that we do it will be slow as molasses in january

I don't know, it could probably happen. There has been talk recently of an N64 emulator being ported to the iPhone...

The Droid's hardware is just as capable as the iPhone since they're almost the same actually. The only problem I can see is that the Droid uses Java and the iPhone can use Objective C, which I think is a more efficient language...but don't quote me on that.

i know its possible for sure, the n64 emu's dont require all that beefy hardware. My modded xbox(original xbox) has an n64 emu that runs pretty smoothly. The original xbox has a 733 mhz processor, and only 64 mb or system ram which is also shared with video lol. I know its possible to get a n64 emu on my samsung moment, it has an 800 mhz cpu, and 256 mb ram.
Only thing is the xbox emu that i have basically runs stand alone without the operating system running in the background this might be the hangup on running an n64 emu on the android platform.

You cannot compare two completely diffrent CPU types just based on speed. Also the Xbox has video hardware that is much more powerfull than what is in your phone which is used by the emulator you are referring to.

why the hell do people say this is impossible right off the bat. shitty windows mobile phones like the first omnia run playstation one games like final fantasy. give it time. at one point there was no way of having gameboy games on a cell phone.

The n64 emulator for iPhone was released months ago, and actually works pretty decently on the 3GS. In theory it should run just fine on a Droid or N1 as well, the problem is going to be the controls because they're so complex. It's not as simple as a super nintendo emulator which just has a dpad and some buttons.

Its definately possible on newer handsets, especially the new hummingbird 1ghz processors coming out, they have an insane amount of gpu.

Good luck finding any kind of way to comfortably use the N64 controller layout on a 2D touchscreen. I'm sure the thumbstick and z-button will work out SUPER smoothly.

Actually the n64 system was more advanced than psx... and no, OoT was infinitely better than MM. MM blew chunks. The end boss was lame/too easy, and the storyline sucked.

Hi, as noted in my PSX thread just posted here, I am working on an N64 emulator port to Android. I did the iPhone N64 port mentioned here as well. It should run pretty smoothly on Snapgradon / Cortex A8 processor based Android devices running a 2.x ROM.

The N64 is harder to emulate than the PSX, performance of their chipsets aside. But the N64 emulator is so well made that it handles better than PSX.
