Sorry Epic...I got you on day 1, which was just um yesterday...but something and I couldn't figure out what it was until the am that I had a bad taste in my mouth. Something about touch wiz...something about something...

Maybe it has been all the problems I have had with the Moment....I will say that the screen is pretty and you are quick....but the keyboard...well I loved the keyboard on Moment more... I know I know.

If you would have had stock android and maybe made the keyboard a little bit oh I don't know, something....and oh I remember what that bad taste was...It was touch wiz and how it reminded me of the Instinct.

I just haven't been happy. All summer long since the announcement of the Epic I have waited. It's like the hype for that big Christmas present and after you play with it you realize...really this is it? So I had to return you dear Epic. :(

Sorry but ever since I had my HTC touch back in the day...I had something specific in my signatures....which is "htc claimed another"

EVO we shall meet soon.:eek::D:eek::p

Good luck finding one. When I got my EPIC yesterday I asked the sales associate if they had EVOs in stock yet and he said that they haven't gotten a drop shipment in two weeks, and he still has 8 people on a waiting list!

Hate to hear you are disappointed with the EPIC, but I must say you may be over-reacting a bit. Why not keep the phone for 3 weeks then return it before your 30 days are up? I'm sure the next biggest and baddest thing will be announced by then. Going back to EVO is a step backwards my friend, but it's your decision and I hope you find true android happiness!

Not overreacting just know what I feel is best for me. Telesales and sprint.vom have the evos....ordered it tonight.

Sorry that the Epic didn't work out for you, bro. I hope the EVO is what you are looking for, I only ask that you don't become like some other EVO owners and cause problems in the Samsung Android forums, though I know you won't.

Again, Good Luck!

i am on the fence about the epic or evo.. both have great specs. it makes it so hard...

Epic has the power
EVO has the finesse

went to BB to check out the epic... that screen is very nice.

but there are 2 things that keep me from changing.

1. GPS.. maybe an issue
2. the power plug... it is on top of the phone! this is just a bad place. think of using a car mount, that just dont look right with the cable coming out the top of the phone into your field of vision. also how many times has the phone need to be charged in the car .. and you need to make a call? now put that up to your ear and the cable has to come around to the top of the phone... it pulling and torquing the usb connection plug. Try to hold it.. between your shoulder and head.

I am still trying to figure this out.. which is right..
by the time I do make this decision.. there will be a new phone to give me more stress... :p or make this easier

Charging it in the car is a non-issue for me as I live in California and we have a hands free law here, which means we cannot talk nor text while driving a car, which means either a bluetooth headset or a car holster and using the speaker phone. I spend 2-3 hours driving my car for work per day so today I had a good chance to use it in my car attached to the charger and talking on the bluetooth and testing the speaker phone while driving, so really the charge cord port on top is not an issue for me while driving.

I'm actually curious what he doesn't like about it. Would be nice to see a full comparison of the features of these android overlays. So much talk about all of them just being fluff and so on. Don't think I've ever seen a direct comparison of them all in regards to functionality, and everyone just throws around how one sucks and the other is great. Like in regards to email, Sense seems to be the only one that adds any functionality over stock android and actually skins it so it's a nice black on white. Blur and Wiz settle for stock android email.

Outside of my comment, I think the thread is a bit of a waste. No concrete reasons of any sort, and he doesn't know he can turn off Wiz which just shows he's not taking any time to get to know the phone. So just because he's a contributing member doesn't mean the thread doesn't have a trolling feel to it based off of his reasons and lack of knowledge about the phone.

Lets not do this, in this thread, please.

as far as the microUSB location, i'm not necessarily in disagreement over the lackluster placement. Completely goes against the natural flow and placement when in portrait mode and will only look normal with a backward facing cable, which they do make, if I could only find the website. They had left, right and backward facing cables. Backwards facing would be nice with a car mount as you could mount the cable behind the holder so it just sits there waiting to be connected.

I appreciate it sir...no I will not hate on the epic or evo or anything else. The only thing I will say I am a "fanboy" is for android. I tried to really like the epic I did. For me all I am saying for me, the EVO will suite my needs.I did try the different features. You can say that there is no point or I did not give it enough time. For me I played with the EPIC..Why must...never mind. Sorry to have created this post. Feel free to close it. I was just stating my opinion. I guess we cannot really have those anymore. Evo may not be for everyone, just like the Epic may not be for everyone...but android should be for all.

I can say that I understand how you feel. I bought an Intercept (quite similar to the epic but smaller, not as powerful, not as pretty of a screen) last month... it was my first android phone after having a windows Treo an Instinct and a Palm Pre (which I loved!) I hated the Intercept within 6 hours... it just did not meet my expectations at all. It was rolled out in July, with 2.1, and now they're saying they won't update it to 2.2, so within a month, the OS was antiquated. The buttons were buggy, frequent lock ups, etc... within minutes, I was being reminded of the failure that was the Instinct.

After the Intercept proved to be unacceptable, I returned it and reactivated my Pre, and swore that would be the LAST Samsung phone I would buy. Two weeks later I got an EVO, and I'm still blown away by the thing! The Epic may be a fine smart phone... it's being billed as a top shelf phone, but just not for me. Everyone has "their" things when it comes to what they like/dislike about a product. I hope the Epic lives up to the hype and makes many customers very happy... but not everyone will like the Epic... just a fact of life.

Well after I returned the epic, I got the evo sent to me and receivedit yesterday. All I can say is I am not hating on anything or anyone...but after only a few hours...oh hell after opening and playing with the evo I am truly happy. Already have swipe installed and netflix is coming soon so no need to rent or buy movies for a hub. Guess I also might be sold on onscreen keyboards...lol, but the size of the screen and everything this has on it. The galaxy is nice, but not for me.

The kick stand is great too lol.

Wow dude... you never gave the Epic a fighting chance...

You didn't even bother looking in settings to see if there was a way to turn off touch jizz....(I think it might be worse than Sense, but not quite).

Oh well....
Actually I did post I know I could turn off touch qua and I did. Just for me the evo is better...again for me.

Okay. Well. This topic can be put to rest :p Nobody is going to convince him otherwise.

Some people prefer the Epic over the EVO. The people that like the keyboard, the screen, the speed (fastest phone in the world much?), the ability to play 720p\1080p MKV files without converting (I can't live without this).

The EVO has its own advantages. HTC build quality and support (probably the best there is with android), sense (if you dont use launcher pro like me), really functional GPS (Samsung shot themselves in the foot by not testing the GPS thoroughly), and large screen size. I really enjoyed my EVO... but the outdated processor and lack of a GPU really bothered me. Some people don't need that.

I'm really rooting for the Epic\Galaxy S phones, because without really good hardware, the android platform won't be able to compete with the iPhone platform. I hope Samsung really pushes other hardware manufacturers to step up their game. Snapdragons SUCK.

One thing that's amusing on both sides is people lump Sense and Wiz into the launcher, and they're just flat out missing the point of the overlays or just don't fully appreciate how much they improve the overall functionality of stock Android and how limited in base functionality stock android is. It's really just a glorified feature phone OS that needs major tweaking to catch up to the functionality of the mature smartphone OS's that are now borderline extinct. It's a shame to see how the smartphone has been dumbed down to the point where even a company like HTC who has tons of experience skinning a much more functional smartphone OS in winMob can't even bring it up to snuff. I mean email is more polished with Sense and you get better IMAP folder support, yet you completely lose the integrated inbox that is so nice in Android and even webOS. Yet TouchWiz keeps email mostly stock so you get just the opposite, nice and integrated (though gmail is still the darling), but you lose advanced folder support. It's a shame that NOBODY seems to get it, and we all suffer for it regardless of our choice.
