My DIY Lego Dock

Didn't want to spend $30 on the motorola one once I found out I could easily make it myself. So here are some pictures. It works great and looks great too, at least I think so. Let me know what you all think of it.

I used a small magnet I had from a magnetic dart set I had. Used the good ol' dremel to make a hole in the lego piece to hold this magnet. Used super glue to hold the usb micro in place. Then I added the "droid eye" on top. I know it's orange, but I didn't have a red piece.

Yea sorry it won't let me attach pictures for some reason. Currently uploading and will link in a minute.

Here we go:

I don't see why you need to waste your time with the magnet with dockrunner around, but I really do like what you did!! I just wished I still had all my legos. Guess I better go to the thrift stores.

Well the point of the dock is to just pop it in to charge and go into dock mode for my night clock and alarm and then to grab it when I go. Yes I know dockrunner only takes one tap if you have a shortcut. But that requires another space used up on my home screen plus you have to disable it when I would pull it from the dock.

It really wasn't hard to put the magnet in, so it's not really "wasting my time."

i agree... dock runner is a nice little app but requires you to turn it off... magnets are cheap and superglue is toooooooo :)

hey this is completely off topic but i am wondering if all the pictures you posted, except for the very last one with the phone in the dock, were taken with your Droid. I hope not but I have a feeling they were, and it makes me sad... look at the difference...

tell me no

anyways, original idea. i like it.

Another plus to making your own dock is that you can make it to fit with a protective case on it!

I have the soft rubberized skin for the moto droid. I have to take the back of it off to put it in the car dock.... I've gotten pretty good at it, but it is annoying. That thing is on there tight!

Anyways, when i do build a media dock for my desk, it will accommodate my skin! Unlike the overpriced one currently offered. :D

Hey, where can I buy a bunch of lego pieces? I don't really know where my legos are...they are in a box somewhere and there is no way in hell I would find them. I don't want to buy a big set of legos that build some sort of castle and ship, I imagine it would be a lot cheaper just getting a ton of blocks, etc. So what is the place for that?
