Help Disabling "Charge Complete" notification completely

Hi all,

I could swear that I've seen a forum for this somewhere around here, but after 30 minutes of searching, I can't find it. What I'd like to do is completely disable any notifications showing that the charge is complete. Reason being, I use Bedside and at roughly 2am the notification closes bedside and lights my screen up until I acknowledge it. Then I have to close it, re-open bedside and I'm back in business.

Anybody know a way to just turn that notification off all together?

That's the one I remember seeing I also saw that post on xda today, but I'll pass it by for now, doesn't look too stable yet. Thanks for the reply though.

I haven't tried charging the phone on my nightstand yet, but plan to cancel my landline so will be doing this soon. Not looking forward to a 2am wake-up. Can you tell me if there's a notification sound that can't be silenced? I have the Sound Manager app installed that appears to let me set notifications and alarm volumes to 0 and leave ringer set high. Is it just that the screen lights up?

If it's just a light can't you just put the phone face down, or put a card over it so the light isn't visible?

Bedside will silence whatever you want, so I only hear incoming calls if they happen. The sound isn't the issue for me, it's the screen being on. For one it cuts down the life of the screen (even if by only a little), and two it cancels out Bedside's clock. I don't have a clock near me, so I use my phone as one if I wake up in the middle of the night. Bedside gives a nice, soothing dimmed clock, which is cancelled by the notification.

Yep...I came to the same conclusion. Not enough of a problem to take the chance!

I agree... the rom im using has this "fix" and now when the phone is done charging it reboots itself over and over until i unplug it.

Ewww...that's way not good. I'm starting to question the reliability of this thing as an alarm clock. The notification won't screw up an alarm, will it?

Nope, the alarm works just fine, as does the rest of the device. It's just the notification that's a bother.

Really people you bought the vibrant as/for a "Smart Cell Phone" Not a freaking alarm clock!

The alarm clock function is not for important things like getting your tired a** out of bed! Maybe if your on the road..but then again if im spending $90.00 a night for a hotel...they have this really cool thing called a "wake up call"!

I can understand the legit gripes about the gps, battery life, call quality and every other thing the "Cell Phone" mess's up on, But do you honestly think Samsung is gonna make 1 gray hair over fixing this? or T-mobile's support not laughing their ass's off while your on hold...

No offense intended but come on... Yes the battery charge notice is annoying but consider the source... not the after effects on/of some third party app!

Not sure where you got the sense that we were all griping about the notification. Each post, including mine, was about finding a workaround to disable it. Personally, I don't want a big clunky alarm clock on my nightstand along with my bed lamp and phone, so I use the phone, as it is much more intuitive and has more features than your simple "dumb" alarm clock. Each person uses their devices differently, obviously you like to use the phone feature more and pay $90 per night for a Best Western wake up call. Whatever floats your boat.

I would advise that instead of being a complete ass on a forum where people are here to help out and find information that makes their devices exactly how -they- want them to be, you hold your tongue and try to understand that you are but one person among thousands here. Your opinion, especially when it is rude and offensive, means nothing. When it's helpful and informative, it's everything.

I have googled this to death and came up emty ... unless you are developer or coputer geek.
The solution is: App called Timeriffic
Easy to use, and you create profile that f.ex. shuts down notification sounds from 23:00 to 6:00, lower ringtone, disable vibration and all the stuff you like to edit.
Then f.ex. at 6:00 you enable ringtone 100%, notification tone 100%, vibration and stuff you disabled over the night

Set the global notifications to SILENT.
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.

You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.

I started using Bedside last night on my Mesmerize (US Cell's name for the Fascinate) and ran into exactly the same problem as 'howtechnical'. The sound associated with the Charge Complete notification is not the issue. The bright screen coming on in the middle of the night and waiting for my acknowledgment is.

Before Bedside, I guess I used to just sleep through this and the screen timed out and turned off by itself. But since Bedside doesn't allow the phone to go back to sleep, the screen now stays bright after the notification appears.

I haven't tried the last two suggestions because they both appear to address the sound, not the screen. Has anybody found a way around this yet?

I have a Galaxy S and this is driving me nuts too. I know your method kinda works, but some apps I have installed actually use the global notifications to remind me of some event. If I set the global notification to SILENT, then I will miss the notifications for those events ! And no, there is no option for these apps to set its own notification sounds ( well, they are free, so I can't really blame the developers ).

I can't believe no one has a solution, and why the hell did Google make such a damn annoying "feature" that cannot be turned off. Even my dumbass Windows Mobile 6.x phone didn't have this problem. In fact, no other phones in the entire world has this problem. Sigh.

Just found a new wrinkle with the same notification sound as the "charge complete" sound.
I just installed "Chrome to phone", and when I sent a link to my phone, that same sound started playing, and it would not stop!
The only thing that stopped it (aside from turning the phone off) was doing a level 2 RAM clear in task manager.

Why on earth would Samsung put a notification sound in that can't be controlled?

DIdnt work for my Galaxy Ace. when i set the master notification volume to silent all notifications are silent, despite what ringtone i set in each app.

Is there still no fix?
