Froyo RUU update available

Are you going to do the update from the first page or the new one that was just posted??

Nothing else changes except all of the telus bloatware is gone so it is safe to apply I would not worry about it.

I think i am going to try the one on the first page for now. once more telus users have tried the second, i will install that one. i don't like the idea of using my brand new phone as a guinea pig.

Hi

I have been looking for a painless way to flash my HTC Desire without rooting or breaking my phone.. and guess what this is the thread that has helped me.

I have a Telus Canada HTC Desire .. bought a month back :p

Steps I did :

- Got the phone unlocked.. was a piece of cake..
- Created a gold card .. I actually used the same card I that came along with the phone (Samsung 8 GB card).. used the Gold card creator [PC Application] GoldCardTool - Android @ MoDaCo
- Used the HTC WWE RUU that was mentioned by the creator of the thread.

My Fellow Telus HTC Desire owners.. use this to liberate from Telus..

If you have a data plan use the APN settings mentioned in this thread only.

Ran the Quadrant Standard on my phone.. it was just below the Nexus 2.2+ .. Desire is slower because of HTC Sense.. that also makes this better than Nexus ;)

Reply back in case you have any doubts.

or:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.0 0.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe

Used once the 2.09.405.8 and then 2.10.405.2 ;) coz the 2.10.405.2 one came after I flashed my phone.. but you can directly use the 2.10.405.2

Yes your Desire will remain unlocked.
Yes this RUU comes with sense.
Screen type does not matter.
The RUU on this page has the latest radio available, and so far has worked for everyone (including myself).

Before you update with either of the RUU files. Be sure to copy down your APN settings as you may have to enter them manually to get your data connection working after the update.

Anyone know what version this is? RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe

It's a newer WWE version on shipped ROMs, it looks newer than the version linked to in the first post, anyone dare to flash this one?

teppic74 has been using this RUU without issue.

I've been running the latest unbranded RUU (2.10.405.2) as a rooted ROM for a while now and it seems fine.

If you want to flash this new one (you will lose all your settings as with every RUU) then you can get it here:

http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe

I'm not going to update the first post with this until people are offered this upgrade OTA.

I haven't applied this update yet. when i go to the same screen on my phone (which is also Telus model) under model, it just says HTC Desire, with no model number.
Weird.
That IS weird because I did the update from the first page and mine also went from Telus A8182 to A8181.

EDIT - just realized you said you hadn't updated yet which means the phone is running a branded version, so the model number can say just about anything. Once you do the update, it should show the generic version which is A8181.

The language pack is slightly different as there is no Canadian (English) or (French) options, and no United States (English) option either.

I'm not too concerned about the language pack anyway as long as the phone works properly here (which it definitely does). I'm guessing the model number simply changed to the standard A8181 as that is the model used in Europe. The radio freqs won't change for us CDN/US users as I believe it's a hardware configuration for the North American market and software can't change the actual radio hardware.
;)
As for locked status, you can do the update whether it's locked or not and the status doesn't change when you do an update as the lock codes are separate from the ROM firmware and specific to the IMEI number. Mine is unlocked and stayed that way when I did the update.

Now that this newer RUU is available though, I'm going to give it a try and see how it works later today and will report back.

dont be so sure, galaxy eu updates broke the radio of the canada/brazil devices as the software couldnt provide instruction to use the correct freq's
also gave an error saying it needed unlocking even though it didnt. maybe to do with the ril

I'd already done the flash before using the one at the beginning of the thread, so I'd already known the procedure to make a gold card, flash, etc, so that's why I hadn't read the entire thread. I just came accross the other release on the ROMs site did a search for it, and couldn't find anything on the forum. Anyway, this new ROM seems to give me a keyboard with voice recognition on it that was missing from the previous version. Which is nice.
