Root Running Fresh 3.2.0.0 with KingxKernel#8 with issues

Hey All,

So I am running Fresh 3.2 and wanted to throw on either the netarchy or KingX kernel. I decided on trying the Kingx kernel first. I put the kernel zip on my sdcard, wiped cache, Dalvik cache, sd:ext, and did a factory reset. I then flashed the Kingx kernel and the screens are a little blocky, especially when I go in to checking out the software information. When I go to scroll down, the screen information disappears with just the header.

From what I've read, I was under the impression the #8 was compatible with the newest Fresh. Is this not the case? Does anyone have any suggestions for helping me get this kernel running smooth or should I just move on to the netarchy kernel? Thank you!

When flashing a Kernel you don't need to wipe sd-ext and factory reset. U just wipe both of ur caches. Try wiping both of ur caches again and reflash the Kernel.

Thanks Buser. I've tried that twice now and the HTC Weather doesn't work and now the software information screen goes blank. I guess I'll try netarcy's kernel.

Maybe, follow...

Just watching the guide (video one on XDA), yea, it'll show me how to do it, and I understand how now.

HOWEVER, I don't know what I need to change in that whole process to flash a kernal or another rom that allows for the framerate to be unlocked, without ruining anything else like the wimax radio or causing gps issues. Essentially, I want a rom that allows for the phone to appear unrooted, but still give me the things I want out of rooting, such as, again, the framerate unlocking, and access to free wireless tethering. I know, the wireless tethering becomes available to use with any form of rooting, but I felt the need to put it in my 'big' list of things I want through rooting. My main, if only reason, for rooting, is wanting to get rid of this horrid fps cap. I don't want to sacrifice anything else just for that...

You don't have to.

This was the first time I've ever rooted a cell phone. I spent plenty of hours reading through this forum and XDA's. When I bought my phone, I was told it had 2.1, but when I sat down to root it, it actually had 2.2. So I used DJR3Z's video tutorial to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1, and then I used simple root (thankfully, I chose the RA recovery). I wanted to try the Fresh rom first as it seemed to have what I was looking for; full functionality with great reviews and stability. I then decided on trying the Kings kernel (flaky on my phone for some reason) or netarchy's toast (seems to work fine after initial hiccup), which both support overclocking as well as the fps unlock along with wifi tether.

Ok...I know this is a stupid question, and I know that I know the answer to this, but for the life of me I cannot remember. What is the code to check your radio version? I just can't remember the damned thing and sadly I even know that it has been covered here before, but I just can't find it by searching or googling.

U don't need a code to see what radio version u on. Just go settings/ about phone/

Shawnz - I did the unrevoked root for froyo 2.2 yesterday. It was super easy and everything is working fine.

If I just install this (link below), and say kings or netarchy kernel, I should be cool to get overclocking and FPS correct? I just want the latest version with the ability to get OC and FPS hack. What is the benefit of going through Fresh 3.2 over just installing the update on the link below? I am new to all of this btw so I apologize for rudimentary questions.

Fresh's current ROM has that OTA update rolled up in it. The Fresh ROM will get rid of the Sprint Bloat-ware (useless NFL app, sprint navi, sprint TV, etc) and give you the option to add back what you do want. This plus the new kernal = battery life.

If you are changing the kernel anyways, that all you'll gain with that OTA is the streaming video improverments.

If you are on rooted 2.2 right now I'd forget the OTA you linked and just apply the netarchy kernel.

I haven't played with the kernels at all unless they were rolled up in the ROM I applied so I'd read up and make sure the kernal plays nice with the stock 2.2 rooted ROM. It'll probably be fine, just readup or at least know how to get back where you are now :).

I installed the fresh 3.2 rom with Kingxkernel#8. For some reason, the battery life is horrible now. I am assuming it is the king kernel. The problem is, I found it impossible to install netarchy 4.1.8 with fresh 3.2. It would just loop the boot screen. I'm kind of bummed out now.

Try 4.1.9 it worked fine for me when I was running Fresh.
