Help Charging the battery

It seems that whenever I plug my phone in to charge, the battery doesn't go up very much. I'm probably just so used to how my Centro could keep a charge all day with no problem. But I had this thing plugged in for an hour, and didn't use it. When I unplugged it, the battery level did not go up at all. It seems my laptop is not giving it enough charge...but it says it's charging. Has anyone else had this problem?

I just got mine yesterday and the slow charge is my biggest issue so far. I feel like I'm almost always charging the phone because of how long it takes. Is this a hardware or software thing? This is probably a stupid question but there's no chance there could be an update that could make it charge faster is there?

No idea until someone contacts Samsung and get their input on this matter. It's rather sad we are force to turn off the phone in order to charge it fast. I really hope this is a software bug and not hardware.

I have the same issue with mine. Its a huge problem. Its not so much the battery detaining fast but the charging up that's the big problem. In fact I tested the charging myself just to be sure it want just in my head and here's what I did. I charged my phone till the indicator Light was blue (full battery)
I then used the phone browser and apps to dragon the battery enough do that it was indicated on the battery icon. It was maybe 5~10% dead after about 30 min of heavy use. Then I looked at the time and plugged in the phone to charge. I went to short and had breakfast and came back to my room where I left it charging. It was maybe 1 hour of charging. I woke it up and the battery was maybe 1% charged.

so went to radio shack where I purchased there phone (biggest mistake of my life) & agree arguing with this moron for about 20 minutes we finally got an exchange. So I took it h home, charged it completely before laying a finger on it after a say of use it was time to charge and again same problem. In fact last night as I was charging it I was using it as week. I noticed the battery felt a little warm but I payed no attention to it as the same thing would happen on my iphone every once in a while. But then it got a little too warm and I got a message displayed on my phone that said battery too hot or too cold to charge, charging paused" I was like "wtf" and I unplugged it, turned it off and left it charging ov

If you're charging off of laptop/USB port it will usually be slower than the charger that came with the device. If it's really important to you, get a spare battery and charger and you'll stop obsessing over it (it worked for me, YMMV).

I was actually thinking about doing this, but the battery just costs too much.

I do feel like I am constantly charging it though. I think it's just a product of having a phone as powerful as this though. I may call Samsung to see what they have to say about it.

The battery is actually doing a little better today. It's midday and it only went down about 25% (if even that much).

The extra battery/charger is a little expensive at Sprint but I've heard you can get pretty good deals on Ebay. I just can't fathom finally getting a phone that does everything I want it to do, but I have to keep it in some kind of lame mode because of battery issues.

Fwiw, I got a pretty decent car charger and car mount at Walmart w/o spending a whole lot of money. Those too were rather expensive at Sprint.

I do have a car charger, and it helps a lot. I'll check around for the spare battery. We are allowed a replacement, but I'm pretty sure we have to give up the first battery.

motorola micro sub 1000 ma chargers are cheap enough on ebay. there are coutnerfiets but a high rep seller will be selling the real deal.

If you are using phone 1000 ma will charge close to twice as fast.

looks like sammy picked a design that isn't a large wall wart rather than per se skimping, but it is simple and cheap enough to get a ful 1 amp charger

as a comment to the original poster...i've found that charging through your laptop/pc is generally a much slower process than charging through a wall outlet.
besides that, turn off wifi, (it doesn't matter if GPS is on unless an app is using it, which would be indicated in the status bar), bluetooth, and 4g...also, if you download JuiceDefender, or any other app, you can turn off 3g which saves a lot of battery and would thus also improve the rate at which your phone charges (because it will be draining less energy as it is charging)

using the stock usb cable, i had my nearly dead phone plugged into laptop for 3.5 hours yesterday and used it for browsing and some chat during that time (3g - no wifi/gps/bluetooth), and basically it didn't charge at all but at least didn't die. i was shocked when i unplugged it for lunch and it said to put it back on the charger lol. :(
