Skype for captivate?

3rd party apps like Fring or Numbuzz support it. They don't have an official skype app on android right now. Only if you were on Verizon they only have Skype mobile for their customers.

Yeah, Nimbuzz works, but the voice calls are almost unusable. Chat is really the only thing I can stand to use Nimbuzz for.

I use "my market" and changed markets over to verizon usa and downloaded skype works fine for my captivate.

My Market for Android

Right, you can install it, but can you actually use it? Skype has blocked access from providers other than Verizon, so when you try to run it it will tell you 'Skype mobile can only be used on Verizon Wireless phones.' Unless you did something else to get it working.

Even if u can get skype on the captivate wouldn't it be annoying because the camera is on the back of the phone. U would have to get a mirror or something to look at ur screen.

seems to work fine over my wifi for voice calls.

I dont recall ever getting a message about it being for verizon only.

I use marketaccess and my market.

Just downloaded Skype using my market but when you try to run it you do get a popup "only usable on Verizon" So if someone is getting it to work on a Captivate tell us how!

Skype is used more for cheap or free voice calls then for video.

I sideloaded Skype Beta a while back. It only does chat so that is a bummer. It came in handy when my work computer went down and I needed to chat with my boss while working on a project.

I have both Fring and Google Voice. Google Voice has better quality, is free, and you can have a totally different phone number for.
