Live Home or ADW Launcher

Hi all,

I saw Live Home today in the market. It looks exactly like ADW Launcher, but allows use of icon packs and adds a few more feature which I don't use (cube transitions between home screens for example). But Live Home allows icon packs ... which is big.

Anyone have an opinion about this? ADW seems very stable. And I don't want to use Live Home if he is ripping off ADW (he did say it is based on ADW thought)

Personally I prefer Launcher PRO over ADW.Launcher not only because we can have 7 pages(ADW also) but also because I noticed that it is faster than ADW.
But most of the time I flash a rom with Sense UI because it is the most impressive launcher especially with all the Widgets that comes with it.

I only noticed 5 with ADW . So I wasn't very impressed.

You can add 7 screens on adw. When on a home screen press menu then edit. Then you'll be able to either add, take away, move, and set main home screen.

I cut down to three pages to save on battery life and system resources so to me this isn't a big deal. Tired of running only three home pages and still getting redraws when going from landscape to portrait mode and the dev doesn't seem to care one lick about this issue either. If he would just address it I would pay for the full version. As it is I may just give up and try ADW again as it appears some of the other launchers are catching up as far as what I need/want from a launcher.

Yes I know, hmm, you seems to quoted my reply before the edit:).
I used ADW launcher a while ago and remembered having a hard time finding the 7 pages settings.Sorry

This battery drain is really annoying.to save power I shut down the Wifi and use setCPU.
With LauncherPRO I have about 10% of battery drain at night.

^^use FolderOrganizer. i change icons just fine with it for free. im also using Launcher Pro and love it but i have no experience with the other two you mentioned.

i cant seem to change icons with that on my galaxy s. Maybe im doing it wrong. Btw adw allowsallows creating custom shortcuts with icons from adw theme pass. Live home allows u to Change the displayed icons seen in both the home screen and app drawer, and you can use icon packs from open home, panda home, better home etc.

LiveHome has been re-designed to provide the best functions of ADW, plus the fifteen-button dockbar of LauncherPro, minus all the nonsense of LauncherPro and the fee which is charged for the privelege of more nonsense. I don't want LauncherPro icons is my dockbar when I just as easily create better ones with Tasker. What I want are tweakable swipe functions, smooth screen transitions, no fight when I move my icons around, and a long-press menu which makes renaming, change of icon, removal, or even the uninstallation of an app easy instead of wasteful. I like being able to move shortcuts between one of my screens and my dockbar just by pushing them there, and vice-versa. I like a homescreen app which places a new shortcut exactly where I pressed the screen, not wherever it wants to! LauncherPro dropped all custom of the long-press menu of functions for screen items in favor of a useless widget resizer, and then it charges the user specifically for the privilege of finding out how useless this is! Go ahead, pay your $3.99 and find out if it's worth that - it only increased the buffer around my widgets, (commercial as well as Tasker), while doing nothing with the image. Most important is that a homescreen app should work, all the time, instead of waste your time with the need to reboot it after it drops your photo background, the text under your icons, and sometimes part of the icons! LiveHome is free, it works, it's more powerful than both LauncherPro and ADW combined, and you only see ads while navigating the LiveHome settings menu.

Of noteable interest is how some great products remain underrated or little-known, while ADW and LauncherPro (free or not) are being promoted by the corporate juggernauts which own them. Their shills are everywhere, and no less in this forum!

So I have now installed and compared ADW and LauncherPro. I have probably spent 20 hours dicking around with these. Can't get what I want, which is what the OP was asking about (I think): I want the cube transition effect between pages, but I want to be able to use ADW themes.

So LiveHome sounds like it will work, except I can't find it in Market. All I find are live wallpapers and other stuff that I don't want.

What do you search on? Is there a link to a website? Am I just stupid?

Still couldn't find LiveHome so I installed GoLauncher. Seems to work extremely well and default themes are nice and clean and well thought out. I will just use this one for a few days.

One thing I have noticed is a lot of posts in the forums from people complaining about battery drain for app x or y or z.

Is there an app that will measure the actual power usage of apps, and display results in a per hour format ... or something that would allow me to compare the actual performance of (for example) different launchers?
