My First Smartphone - going Android

Hi. I've been looking at Android phones for a few weeks now. My current phone contract is ending in just over a month and I might not continue with my carrier, especially if a different carrier has what I want.

Current carrier: Rogers (western Canada)
Current phone: Samsung X246 that's lasted over three years, never required a day of service.

What I want, I suppose, is to make an informed decision, to be content and even delighted with my purchase. I don't want to be rushed or shamed into a purchase (yes, Rogers rep, I have been in your store three times over the past 2 weeks - so what?). It amuses me that I seemed to impress a couple of Best Buy sales associates recently while trading information about Android phones. One of them has an iPhone, too. ha!
