Default Music Player

So...I'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.

Here's why:

I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid. Please advise.

Well I don't know about the Droid, as that is a Motorola phone on Verizon, and this is the Captivate forum.

Usually when you install more than one app that can handle a certain type of file or action, the next time you try and do it Android asks you which program you want to use and gives a checkoff so that you can make your choice the default. Maybe you set the stock to be default? It may be your headset buttons are hard coded to only use the stock app however.

I apologize for the confusion, "droid" was short for android. I am a captivate user. The headset does work with other apps but it's just a little buggy with Playerpro in particular. I don't recall seeing a checklist during installation. In the marketplace you get a list of permissions the app will have access to but I don't see a why to edit that information. Am I missing something?

In the settings for whatever player you downloaded ,should be an option in the settings For "enable headset buttons" if not , try another player ... most of them have this option ,, which sets that player as the default WHEN YOU ACCESS THE HEADSET BUTTONS .... it does not set the player as default for the phone .... A word of caution ... try to keep the default player on your phone .. it has a lot of dependices....
