Help Mail notification

I do only have one mail account set up and i tested the vibrate and sound notifications and neither of those worked either. As of last night, this was working fine, but seems to have stopped overnight.

Okay have your tried completely shutting down/restarting? Hold Power Button and few seconds and select power off.

I am not sure what is causing this. I can assume you are not rooted?

I'll try deleting the msn account. I actually do have a gmail account set up in the phone, and that one seems to be working fine. Notifications come through just fine (the M in the upper left corner as well as the notification sound). I wonder if its an msn/hotmail thing?

Actually your gmail (from your above statement) is coming in through gmail app (icon with M).

After you re-setup your MSN, add GMAIL as well to the HTC Mail.

To do this, go into your htc mail, settings and add account. Put in your gmail name and password. Test again.

I talked to verizon tech support and they had me try some things I have already tried and still nothing. The next step was doing a factory rest. Will this wipe out everything on my phone?! They said something about everything being saved under my gmail, but when I look at my gmail online, none of my contacts or anything else are there. I'm just a little hesitant to wipe everything out of my phone. Is anyone else having any issues with msn/hotmail? Any other ideas or advice? Thanks!!!

Okay. I am stumped and my next thing would be to do a hard reset. It's not that big of a deal.

It appears you use MSN - So I am not sure how your contacts are populated to your phone. Did you enter them individually? If you add a contact to your phone (MSN acccount via HTC Mail) does it sync into your MSN account online? If so, your contacts will be okay. Just verify how you got your contacts into phone and we can decide where to go from there.

As far as a factory reset - I am sure others have their own methods, but the first thing I would do before the reset is opening a APPBRAIN account (in market). This will sync all your apps. So after the hard reset, you just go into market, re-download APPBRAIN and then you it will show what apps you had on phone (make sure you sync it before reset).

You will loose your settings (ringtones, scenes etc). I did nine after the Froyo update and it was no big deal. My main concern for you right now is the contact, calendar. So tell me how you got them on the phone in the first place.

I am crunched for time as I am leaving in an hour or so and will not be able to help/respond until later tonight.

I got most of my contacts into my phone automatically from my last phone when I set up my incredible, but a lot of the extra information (e-mails, physical addresses, etc I entered by hand). I will do the appbrain thing. thanks again for your help. I will check back later this evening.

Okay. I would just use the EXPORT in PEOPLE. Go to PEOPLE - then IMPORT/EXPORT - Export to SD Card. Then after reset - same but IMPORT.

Does doing a factory reset make me lose all my pictures?

Thanks for the link - at least it now seems like it might be a bigger issue than just my phone? Possibly an upgrade issue?

Could be. As far as pictures, if there not saved on SD card, then yes. You can move them From Phone to SD via USB (hooked to your PC). Also I think you can back up using HTC Sync.

Hi gobluejd - I just wanted to update you that my envelope notification is back!! I'm not sure how or why. I did pop the battery out last night, and this morning it was back, so I'm not sure if that did anything or if it was just a temporary glitch, but either way, i'm happy to have it back! Thanks again for all your help and great info! Now I know a lot more about backing things up on my phone etc. Much appreciated!!

No worries. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. I meant to ask you that night how things went and my Pressure Relief Valve on my water heater gave and well my mind was somewhere else and forgot.

Glad I could help! That's what allot of us are here for!!
