Galaxy Spica or Galaxy Apollo

I am in doubt wether to buy the galaxy spica or the galaxy apollo.

The Spica seems to win by large spec wise (processor, screen), but the apollo wins when it comes to age.
Judging from what I see here, the spica will get froyo. Will the apollo get it as well?

Does the age of the spica give me any disadvantages at all?

P.S.: I don't really care about multi-touch.

Spica WON'T get Froyo. At least not officially. The Apollo will.

Here's a direct comparrison.

Spica vs Apollo

There are great minds at work constantly improving the Spica's performance. Multi-Touch is now available as is up to 3 x times Speed improvements.

Although the Apollo will get 2.2, and it has a radio, I doubt flash will run well on it's lowly 667Mhz Processor.

You pays your money..

Eventually bought the spica for it's superior screen. Apollo just has software advantages, and more RAM. Little RAM is no big issue on android, and software is hackable.

Still running 1.5 atm, no official update available here yet. I'm waiting to root my phone until it's a bit older, because I have the nasty habit of bricking stuff.

Maybe the froyo update will make the system fast enough to play flash on the apollo?

Does updating the firmware without rooting the phone void warranty?

Thanks for the advice btw.

Froyo > 133MHz difference. Plus having 2.2 makes it more probable that the version after that might also be compatible.
I wonder if the Spica running firmware 2.1FE and it's 133Mhz advantage would match or even out perform Froyo on the Apollo.

And as stated above, Spica wins on screen resolution.

Anyone with a Apollo and Froyo care to run LinPak and see

hey, before i get a smart phone, i knew nothing about them, and i saw that the i5801 was cheap and looked fast enough so i took it
Now i see that the spica, which is even cheaper, is more powerful than the i5801

The i5801 has more software features it seems, like TV and some other stuff, but i dont care about these (i want multitouch and it seems that this was made for the spica with rooting) and touchwiz 3
is it just an android 2.1 or 2.2 feature?

So i am interested in making some video games for android, but nothing too heavy. I tested raging thunder 1 on apollo and the game runs a little slower than in this video YouTube - Racing Thunder - Spica (Lite) on New Driver 3D!
same for armageddon squadron

I tested linpack, and have a result of 3 mflops with i5801.
I saw a video where the spica does 7 or 8...
can the apollo's performance be upgraded by rooting like the spica is? or should i just send back the i5801 and get a spica
also what kind of processor does the i5801 have?

also what kind of earphones does the spica come with? the i5801 comes with excellent earplugs, they have great sound

edit: found specs for cpu of spica and apollo

here is spica
Samsung S3C6410 - CPUlist | PDAdb.net - Comprehensive Database of Smartphone, PDA, PDA Phone, PNA, netbook & Mobile Device Specifications
here is apollo
Samsung S5P6422 - CPUlist | PDAdb.net - Comprehensive Database of Smartphone, PDA, PDA Phone, PNA, netbook & Mobile Device Specifications

apollo has no 3D acceleration

^^ rooting doesn't improve performance, mods do.
My spica runs just around 8.7~9.2 MFlops at SetCPU @ Performance.

I have the following:
LK2.08, Samdroid 1.3.1d, Frozen Eclair V7 (these improve general performance)

then I have system2ext2 and data2ext4 <-- these improve I/O so much that my spica now boots in under a minute (haven't timed it yet)

before all this, I had around 3-4 MFlops.

I'm running SamdroidMod with Frozen Eclair 8 Beta 3 and I get 9MFLOPS on Linpack.
