whats your preferred navigation, Sprint or Google?

Sprint nav takes traffic into consideration which is nice but it doesn't seem to be very good at it. I used both and prefered sprint for about 3 days until I set it to my work and took a back way around traffic. Sprint nav kept insisting I take the parking lot of a freeway instead. I understand the reasoning behind it but here was the deal breaker:

I kept going the back way. I drove for probably 5 miles to the point that it was no question that going the direction I was going was faster than turning around yet every 1/4 mile it insisted I Uturn and back track in the wrong direction all the way back to the freeway. That ended my love affair with Sprint nav.

Another reason for going back to google: Google maps stopped giving me the option to use google navigation or sprint navigation with the 2.2 update. No point in searching for a location on google maps and then trying to copy and paste the address into sprint nav when I can just hit "navigate"

I like sprint navigation. Have not used google so I can't comment on it. Sprint nav has some of the features of your more expensive stand alone nav systems like traffic and the ability to navigate around it, and pronouncing street names. I have not had any lag with it and it even showed me a shorter way to get where I was going that I did not know about.

It also seems to be updated with the most current maps and businesses. Just my 2 cents.

I deleted all the Sprint apps from my phone. Except for Sprint_VVM (the voicemail program).

Google nav is very good. reroutes fast. Multiple routes option. The voice direction is concise and only speaks when necessary (none of this "keep to the left and continue" crap I hear from the TomToms every exit on the highway). Uses a darker map during nighttime hours.

Only gripe is the stock TTS voice, which isn't part of the nav, technically. Anyone recommend a better voice?

Sprint nav looks more like a stand alone unit, and seems nicely polished. Chrome to phone makes google just as easy (sending a map from your computer used to be easier with sprint nav).

They both have benefits...but I typically default to google because of the integration.

I see the below comment a lot.
Sprint's takes forever to log in,

I have NEVER had this issue. Strange. My Sprint nav logs in and is working within 15 seconds max.

i use both- primarily sprint nav nav for navigation, and google maps to actually view a map. sprint nav takes traffic into account (and it works pretty well in southern california), and google maps seems to get a little 'confused' when navigating sometimes. for example, at 3am, going from mco to epcot, google nav kept wanting to route me to downtown orlando. fired up sprint nav and it was all good.

Ftr, google shows traffic too, under Layers.

You dont even need to go into Layers. It does take traffic into account when generating routes and when you are traveling the color of the "light" changes based on traffic. Google just doesnt take 5 minutes to update traffic, its native to the map so it doesnt tell you like Sprint does. And then it usually routes the quickest route and if you go to route info you can pick from multiple routes.

I havent used Sprint Nav since I got Google Nav. The voice search alone is the killer, I just say "Navigate to Taqueria Del Sol Decatur" and it starts navigating.

I removed sprint nav after rooting.

I prefer the Sprint interface but it is hard to argue with the Google voice search. Sprint seems antiquated in that regard. At the end of the day I use Sprint when I can Plan and Google on the go. At times either can be innacturate so I toggle between in those situations.

I've used both quite a bit. On the Pre (my previous phone) I only had the option of Sprint Nav, so I have used it more than Google. I find both to be pretty good, and I like them both. I really like the inerface of Sprint Nav and have found it to be pretty accurate and the moving map looks really good. If I had to choose one, I would go with Sprint Nav.

I actually like some things about both Navigation Apps. Sprint Nav is more pleasing to listen to than Google Nav's robotic voice. Both seem to give similar accuracy, although I have experienced issues with Google Nav where it routed me to the wrong side of the street (which was cut off by cul-de-sacs on each side).

The one thing I like about Google Nav that Sprint Nav doesn't do is, it shows a street view of the location you're trying to get to (at the end of the route), so you know exactly what you should be looking for.

My rule of thumb for using both systems is this:
1) Going to somewhere I know, but originating from an area I don't know, I use Sprint Navigation.

2) Going to somewhere I've never been before, but coming from an area I do know, I use Google Navigation.

I have no real complaints about either. I've experienced the similar amount of lag for both Nav systems when I'm supposed to be transitioning to another freeway or making a turn soon. Sprint Nav maybe slightly slower than Google, but either has been enough to cause me to miss a turn. Overall, both are very good to the point that I never felt the need to get a dedicated NAV system.

Let's see...do I prefer waiting 2 minutes while sitting in my car while my navigation starts up... or do I like typing an address in and leaving immediately...

I think google might be a smidge better here... it's not like it works perfectly without having a boot time longer than it takes my phone to turn on or anything...
