Swype on the Droid X with 2.1 originally had a black keyboard with bigger keys to swype or type on. With Froyo, it's now showing as a white keyboard with smaller keys that looks look the Swype keyboard I had originally had on my Droid 1. Is this the "new" keyboard look for Swype on the Droid X or is there a way to bring back the old look before upgrading to Froyo on the Droid X? The version that is showing on the DX now is 1.64.40.9380.

this model of the keyboard is much bigger than the original and it runs way smoother. Why are you complaining

I don't know if it'll work for the Incredible but for the Droid uninstalling Swype and then using the Swype installer to reinstall it worked for me.

Where is this Swype installer???? cause now it says the beta trial version is finished. I tried to write something....nothing happens. It shows the blue line.....but nothing. If I were to manually type...it works. I am confused? Please let us know.....

This is happening to me as well, change imput method to some other keyboard and then change it again back to swype, works as a temporary fix.

You'd know what the Swype Installer was if you were actually a member of the Swype beta :p

Its probably a new look made by Swype. The galaxy S's swype keyboard looks like it's default native keyboard but more packed closely together. So The only way to change the layout is to uninstall the pre-installed swype on your droid and install a different version of swype inside. But the version found on your droid (1.64.40.9380) is by far the latest build ive seen so far.

I liked the Swype kb from 2.1, the Swype kb in 2.2 on my X sucks. I get more mispellings with it than I ever did in 2.1.

Yeah, same. It makes so many errors when swyping and the keys seem more packed together than on the Swype that came with the 2.1 Droid X. I can't stand the 2.2 one. I tried replacing the 2.2 apk file and lib files with the ones from 2.1 like I was told and changing the permissions, but when I go to enter txt, the old style 2.1 Swype keyboard comes up but I can't press any of the buttons or Swype on it. Anyone with any ideas on how to get it working?

Uhm, complaining? I totally agree with everyone else. This new keyboard LAGS, the buttons are WAY smaller, and the original keyboard was the MAIN reason I upgraded to this phone. I have acrylic nails and I use my pinkie to Swype. Can't DO it now with the small crappy grey keys and I can't see the background symbols, WAY too light. This new keyboard SUCKS, big time! If you look at the manual for Swype, it shows there is a way to change the size, but unfortunately, Verizon gave us the crappy update version and we can't alter it. Hell, you can't even uninstall it or try to put in the Swype beta version because you can't get access to the apk file unless you are a phone hacker. And, if you DO hack your phone in any way, it will void your warranty. Besides, the Swype beta trial is over. That was full after a week, now it ended. Basically, we are screwed now. I spent THREE hours on the phone with both Verizon and Motorola. They are supposed to refer this to a level 3 Motorola tech, but I won't hold my breath that anything can or will be done about it. The Froyo is a contract with Google, not Motorola. I have seen NUMEROUS people complaining on tons of Droid forums about this, so it's not just us. I am SO pissed off I might return my phone and tell them to stick it. They did the same exact thing with the first Droid's, the ones with the keyboard. It used to have an "arc" to unlock the screen. It was easy to unlock the phone with your right hand, one handed. The work around is by downloading the free app TEDD'S TOOLS. Allows you to just hit the ANSWER button on the main screen or you can use the side camera button, (not recommended with a gel case). I can't Swype with these small keys and I can't IMAGINE if you were a man with larger fingers. I have my Swype turned all the way up for errors too. Again, I'm ticked off BIG time! BAD BAD BAD!
