Hi All,

I am wondering how many Bump Charges do you all do? I saw a post saying 3 times, and I did 3 times, but the fourth time, I am still not fully charged because the LED light still RED after I turn the phone off and plug the USB charger in.

Another concern is that, people mentioned this is a software issue, but I am bump charging the phone while it is OFF, so wouldn't this being a software issue since I do not have the phone turned ON?

Thanks guys!

P.S. I will join Medion to participate in convincing HTC to resolve this issue!!!!

Do you have any suggestions?

I bought these two batteries on eBay for $16 at the time (including shipping) and gave one away to a friend. The 1500 mah battery made all the difference in the world. I just keep my old one in my car for a backup now.

The seller does not mention HTC Incredible in his description, but it goes in fine and has caused no problems. I found this from this thread in these forums, so you can see that nobody here has had a problem with them.

Great price, great batteries, made my phone great!

Against my better judgement and knowledge, I tried out the bump charge for a week. Huge waste of my time.

Just like you are seeing, you can bump charge all day and never get anywhere. That little green light will just refuse to stay.

The "problem" (that's not really a problem) is that the phone stops charging once it's full and reverts to battery power. It does not continue to trickle charge like pretty much all dumbphones do. This is the way the phone is designed, there is nothing you can do about it.

Here's what I do. Charge the phone overnight while I am sleeping. Wake up, pull it off the charger. Within 10-15 minutes the battery indicator will catch up and will drop anywhere from 3-6%. I put it back on the charger until green again.

Bam, done. No need to turn off the phone and charge some more, then reboot the phone and charge some more, rinse and repeat. It's a waste.

FYI... unless I am really pressing my luck and pushing the phone, I can get about 36 hours with the 1500 battery.

I just bought them as well. If these batteries live up to what everybody says, I'm going to...well I just don't know. :p

This is precisely what I've been doing, but honestly, I don't see much difference in life.

You can do that bunk charge a million times in a row and you will always see the same results you are seeing now. It is a placebo effect. It does nothing...

The first bump does something. After that you're wasting your time. It really depends on how long the phone has been sitting since it hit green.

It's still software. When you plug it up the phone boots up partially (nothing you will see since the screen is off). It pretty much just powers up the CPU to watch the charging operation and loads the kernel to RAM which contains the programming for charging.

i hate to disagree....but i must lol

i charge my phone overnight while sleeping, wake up and see it's green..take it off, yeah mine drops, usually around 8%. plug it back in while on until green again, but the SECOND i unplug it, i notice it dropping %'s again. it'll drop to 95% within a minute if i charge it while plugged in again until green.

therefore, bump charging while off is the way to do it. you say it's a waste of time for you; for me, it gives me that extra amount...however, i'm just so sick of having to shut the phone off every damn morning when in fact lately i'm waiting for important job offering calls that i DON'T want to miss or trust to voicemail! so yes, bump charging while off is quite annoying, but on my phone it definitley gives me more of a charge, wheras plugging it in while on will just continuously drop %'s when i unplug it again

is that 5% really worth it?? when you are done with your phone for the day and going to charge it, is it at 5% battery left? Just an innocent question because it seems to me that people are going through a WHOLE lot of trouble just for maybe another 20 mins worth of battery life when it seems it would be a lot easier to just get another charger or charge it in your car on your way to work or school or wherever, or wherever you can, and even then when people are plugging in their phone to charge at night are they doing with only 5% left? cause if they aren't it really is just a huge hassle. IMO

I get a ~6% gain when bump charging with the phone off. I base this on the fact that the phone doesn't drop to 94% within minutes of unplugging after the led hits green. With my use, a bump charged phone will hit the 94% mark about an hour and a half after unplugging and booting up.

The problem is that I can't bump charge my phone when I'm on call.

an hour and a half of sitting in your pocket or an hour and a half of use? in my experience 6% is about 10 to 40 mins of use (obviously depending what you are doing). Just isn't worth the time to me to get that extra 6% and many will argue (i will not) that the "6% extra" you see is more of a visual effect than a usable increase in battery life(The placebo effect). When I plug my phone in at night I usually have 30% - 40% battery left and that's just on a single charge(no bump charge, no charging at all during the day). But then again, that's the advantages of rooting your phone and putting on custom kernels.

It's not a placebo unless the folks who wrote Battery Indicator or Battery Left widget are in on the scam.

My phone use does not follow the same pattern each day, but I will simplify by saying that the phone hits the 94% mark 60 to 90 minutes later in my day than green/unplug/go.

If I was standing around, drumming my fingers and tapping my foot waiting for the bump charge to complete, I would agree that it is wasted time. I've found that I can multi-task while charging my phone and I can take a dump, shower, brush my teeth and perhaps make a cup of coffee while the phone is bump charging in the morning.

One never knows if you will need your phone in an emergency or for how long. If I can get an extra 6% with a bare minimum of effort, how is that wasted time?

yes, and many of us don't wish to void our warranties. when i put my phone on the charger at night, it's at like 5%, not even.

Like I said, it's my opinion and opinions can't be wrong, not disagreeing with you, just said isn't worth it to ME for that 5%. But if you are really THAT worried about having those last extra percentages for an emergency you should have a charger at work and in your car and leave it plugged in whenever you can(or even easier just carry an extra charged battery, and fill your gas tank on your way to work and on your way home cause you NEVER KNOW when you are going to need those last 100 drops of gas right? lol). Sorry not trying to make fun of it but we are talking about 5% of a battery :-\ You can also just buy an extended battery. Just seems to me there are so many more simple and more sane options than having to bump charge. Instead of doing those things you mentioned while bump charging you could be USING your phone while doing those things, except the shower I guess. Then charge your phone on the way to work or while at work. But I guess do whatever works for you. JUST MY OPINION

The "battery left" and all battery widgets/apps get their information on how much battery is "left" from the phone/battery itself(just doing a calculation of how much voltage the battery is putting out), something you can get yourself from the phone without those apps. It's all about how Lithium-Ion batteries charge and hold a charge; I won't get into how that "percentage" is calculated but do a Google search on lithium ion batteries and look at the legitimate research sites on the batteries (not forums) and it might be an eye opener for you on those percentages you are relying on :) and just might change your mind on bump charging(probably not lol to each their own).
But anyway back to the original post, I think we can ALL agree that bump charging more than once is completely not worth it... right? lol

you're right in what you say; however, since the battery life of smartphones already sucks, it angered me to notice the other night that while in my pocket for 1 hour at a restaurant with my friends, my phone went from 30% to 0% and shut itself off and i sure as shit had no idea why. 30% within an HOUR, in a building WITH SIGNAL? wtttttttf. never happened there with 2.1. anywho, the battery issues on this phone just piss me off, period. hence why i bump charge....in hopes of getting that extra boost so it wont die when i'm out with friends

yeah....that shouldn't happen, an app you have might not be shutting down properly or I've seen some people reporting if they have a web page up that auto-refreshes(like a sports score site) that it keeps their phone awake an obviously drains the battery quickly. you can try downloading an app like "spare parts" and there is a function in there that can help identify apps that are keeping your phone awake

it's funny...here i am preaching bump charging, and this morning i realized it's debunked with 2.2 basically. never realized it before.

charged my phone to 100% while on. turned green, so i did my usual: unplugged, turned it off, plugged back in. was orange, so i let it goto green again after like 45 minutes. then, i unplugged and plugged in again to see it goto orange and eventually green after like 10-15. i unplug, turn the phone on, and within 30 seconds, my phone is down to 97% already. WOW! i guess bump charging doesnt work anymore lol
