What do you want on your next phone?

What options would you like to have on your next phone?

I'd like:
real capacitive buttons= clickable!
I'd like them to stay lit when the screen is lit and to light up upon being clicked.
I'd like the screen to come up on the phone when one of the buttons are pushed.
I'd like it to be available in multiple colors
I want flash for my camera!
I want a better camera so I can quit carrying my digital around.
I want Dragon dictation (the dictation on this phone isn't as good as what I had on the Mytouch Slide)
I want better battery life!
I'd like slightly less bezel and more screen.

I'd like:
I'd like it to be available in multiple colors
I want flash for my camera!

I want better battery life!
.

1. It comes with two color backings, as for colors its not really all that practical to. the G1 came in 3 colors and towards the end only one was available. if thye make too many of one color then it was money wasted and they end up with a surplus and negative return income.

2. You should check out my dark pictures thread. The phone beats even my wifes 8mp digital camera. you'll understand why if you read my post about megapixels and such. And the phone doesnt need a flash. infact all phones with flash is just an LED. a true flash (like on an ACTUAL camera) would drain the batter far too much.

3. On the subject of battery life, the vibrant lasts me all day without having to be charge. from all my games being played, web surfing, wifi, bluetooth, the works.

But i can also respect your wishes too, if i stand on the other side ofthe fence. =)

I'd like to see on my next phone:

Nothing! the vibrant is everything i've wanted! Other than a faster GPU and CPU, the screen is perfect as is now! i'd just like to see the app store with more serious games.

oh and maybe a Dpad.

I'm right there with you on the megapixel thing Ghost. As much as I hate to admit it, I think Apple made a good decision not using an 8MP camera, and so did Samsung. I haven't read your article yet, but Ken Rockwell, a well known camera reviewer has an excellent article on why you don't need that super new 12 MP camera. Here's a link if you're interested: The Megapixel Myth

And yes, absolutely on the D-Pad...or a trackball...or a touchpad.

And my input, a notification LED. Please for the love of god, a notification LED.

Drag the Swype help button to the SYM button and you will have a Dpad.

Id like to be able to do a screen shot without being rooted and better batery life.

a touch pad like the new black bary would be nice... for a mouse like option similar to the track balls.

a flash would be nice but not that big of a deal mostly I would use it as a flashlight to find where to put my keys of if I droped something lol.

larger battery

dual sd card slots would be sick

hdmi out would be nice

Edit: also a front facing camera thats 3mp or higher.

metal or glass backing rather than cheep plastic

1- I want color on the FRONT of the phone, not the back. The front of this phone is solid black. It's really the only reason I use a case- to brighten it up! The Mytouch Slide comes in multiple colors. They could make multiple colors in other phones too ;)

2- I will check out your dark pics thread. I haven't looked at it yet- but if it is about night mode, I've already tried that. This phone takes nice pictures outside but even so they aren't as good a quality as my digital camera. I'm sure it may be one of the best phone cameras out right now but that's not my point. My point is simply that it is a priority for me that development on this feature continue. I made a point of mentioning it because some people say the camera shouldn't be a purchasing factor. It is for me however :) . Also, I've used the night mode and have not had good success with it. I had flash on the mytouch slide and it worked fabulously. I'd like to also mention that while the pics I take outside look amazing on my phone, they do not look as amazing when I transfer them to my computer and see them blown up to 4x6. They are actually not as clear and nice as they appear on the phone.

3. Lastly- battery life.... Are you serious? I'd love to know what you're doing (or not doing) to get that kind of battery life. Mine never lasts through the day and I almost never have GPS or WIFI on. I'm sure it is not the battery b/c this is my replacement vibrant and my vibrant before this was the same. Do you never use it for voice calls or texts?

I am also happy with my Vibrant but would like the following on my next device:

1) A titanium, or if yet available, a transparent aluminum case. Bulletproof.
2) A kevlar impregnated, unbreakable screen.
3) A 5.1 sound system w/subwoofer for multimedia use - music and video.
4) 3D 1080P movie capability.
5) Transporter interface: "Beam me up Scotty!"
6) Nvidia SLI graphics.
7) 2TB hard drive.
8) 21 megapixel camera with interchangeable lenses and full size sensor.
9) Quad core Intel processor running at 3.0ghz.
10) A better HD microphone that could hear termites munching in wood at distance.
12) A battery that could jump start my car in an emergency. 1 month talk time.
13) A holographic projector like R2D2 had, built in with 2-way holographic communication capability.

I know I'm omitting lots, but this is enough to get started... :p

[edit: I forgot 2 "must have" items!]
14) Full, military grade, night vision and 0 light video capability.
15) Built in TASER non-lethal personal protection. Or with that battery it might be lethal!

You and I must have different batteries. I don't use 3G, turn off wifi, have very few widgets in use and my battery life sucks ass. If I don't charge my battery off my laptop before I leave my office, it won't last until I go to bed about 10:30.

I really like this Vibrant, but the battery life is terrible.

Hey man, if you haven't already, check out this thread on power saving tips. There's a lot of back and forth about Linux's power saving utilities and why to avoid Task Killers, but other tips as well. But I've 3G off, WiFi Off, and GPS on (along with other settings I go over on page two), and I can go unplugged for more than 24 hours.

I just downloaded Canvas though, so we'll see how much I can shave that time down. ;)

You said "I don't use 3G," but " I turn off wifi." If you haven't done so already, try turning off 3G. Even when you don't have 3G service available the phone will continuously and regularly try to seek out 3G towers which wastes a LOT of battery. But if you have 3G disabled in settings it won't seek out the towers.

I read about this new technology in a news letter and heard about it about two to three years back. We will never have to charge out phones again. This is working now. They put a special antenna in the devices with a circuit that is designed to pick up radio signals and convert them into power which is used to charge the battery.

This is what I want in my next phone
