Root 2.2 update with ROOT?

Are you at 2.1 now, rooted? You would need to run Unrevoked Forever to get s-off to keep root, unless you decide to install a custom ROM. Check the forums for guides on this, as they are most helpful.

I am at 2.1 rooted and cannot update. It fails. I have only applied the unRevoked Root process, installed Teathering and that is all.

Any ideas? I had prefer not to loose my modifications or configuration by restoring to OEM.

if you are rooted at 2.1, go to unrevoked.com and apply the unrevoked forever patch, do a nandroid backup, flash one of the new radios, then flash a 2.2 rom of your choice.

do s-off while of 2.1 then go to 2.2 and you can get root. otherwise the patch to root 2.2 will be out really soon.

I thought I would ask this here instead of making a new thread. Kinda related, so here goes.

I downgraded my stock phone to 2.1 from 2.2, rooted with unrevoked and downloaded wireless tether. I haven't used unrevoked forever, but I received the 2.2 update ota. So here's my question:

Can I still run unrevoked forever, and turn s=off without any problems from the waiting 2.2 upgrade? Say I run forever; will the waiting 2.2 upgrade interfere with installation?

If I understand correctly, I can run forever, backup on nandroid, run the 2.2 patch to be upgraded, and, since s=off, my phone will stay rooted. Is that right/the way to go? Thanks!

Root will not stay, you'll have to root it again.

I have a question too, with s=off, and 2.2, to root it again, do we use the 2.1 root file? the ap-inc.zip?

I've read a lot of information but can't seem to find my specific question; this thread seemed to be the closest so I thought I'd post here.

I have already received the 2.2 update from Verizon but haven't installed it yet. I just today rooted with unrevoked3 and ran unrevoked forever to get s-off. Now can I install the 2.2 update from Verizon? Or should I use a custom 2.2 ROM?

I tried that, it failed and now says my phone is up to date. what do i do? i dont even want root anymore.
