Can't load xda forums this morning. Want tp tp download the latest vision of Cyanogen Tazz.
There is 5.0 out right now, And there is 6.0 Black Rain v2 The Sabbath which i dled and flashed early this morning and is awesome.
well there is something for me to look forward to when xda gets back up.
is it a no-wipe flash?
does anyone know which version Cyanogen Tazz- ou812.zip is?
I like Tazz 1.0's theme so much that I am unable to update to any later versions. The whole black rain thing is a bit much for me, but the theme on 1.0 was perfect. Phone runs perfectly too, camera autofocus is working, gps, etc. Camera is back to touch only on the later versions.
Other than the theme, any compelling reason to go beyond Tazz 1.0?
(I flashed conaps v4 cfs kernel separately. Amazing battery life improvement. Like, doubling. Maybe I'll give Celb froyo a try...)

I suppose it is to be expected, though - up to the point of 1.0, there were some remaining bugs to be patched - MMS, camera, backlights, notification LEDs, autofocus, etc. So, all the Froyo devs were focusing on problem resolution.
Once all of that stuff got more or less put to bed, what was left for a ROM dev to do? They can either take one of three approaches: publish "new" ROMs which are all about themes which are pre-cooked, or create a means to add themes as packages, or issue both themed and "unthemed" ROMs at each point release.
Not to say there are no remaining bugs in Froyo ROMs - the in-call disconnect/reconnect hasn't been fixed, and the CFS kernel seems to go nuts occasionally (I've had 2 spontaneous reboots - once when the phone was sleeping! - in five days of CFS use). I'll post the /proc/last_kmsg files over on XDA when it comes back up (although I don't see any smoking gun in them).

Just FYI - on Tazz 1.0, camera works better than on the subsequent versions (after installing the version of camera in the OP), MMS works fine, LED notifications work fine. (No trackball notifications). All is smooth and nice, and a great theme. Happy for now.
(Though, I believe that if an XTR-Froyo came out, I'd be happier)
Sorry - I wasn't implying that 1.0 had bugs in any of those specific areas - what I meant was that up until a certain point in time, the devs working on Froyo ROMs had some pretty obvious bugs to contend with - things that were show-stoppers for lots of people that had tried out Froyo ROMs. So, a lot of dev attention was focused on fixing those bugs, and the functionality of each release of a given Froyo ROM series improved.
But, at this point in time, we are a little ways beyond that - you might even say that Froyo ROM development for the Eris is "at a standstill" from the point of view of incremental functionality (even though there still are some minor bugs and irritations). The kernel work on CFS and BFS is certainly interesting, and no doubt there will be further improvements in CM releases, so, it's not like there is nothing left to do - but code for the Eris seems to be reaching a level which can be described as "mature"; and it is hard to accept new releases - especially when the re-introduce problems that were previously fixed.
Largely though, I agree with you - I may yet roll back to 1.0.
