I am all about gun control...

In our Country we are allowed to have these firearms if we want them, it is in our Bill of Rights. Besides, who would decide who needs what and why would said person get to decide? We have more freedom here than anywhere in the world. With it comes responsibility and accountability. Yes our Constitution and our Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence were written a very long time ago, but they are wonderfully forward thinking, all encompassing beautifully written documents. Other countries have based parts of their constitutions off of ours. What we have is rare and precious, it is why so many people from all over the world come here. people even risk their lives to get here illegally to have what we do.

No one but criminals have anything to fear from law abiding citizens with weapons. My guns have twice protected my family and me from harm. I might not be here if not for them.

Where ever you may live may not have criminals doing harm to the populace, individuals may never be out numbered by bad guys, disabled or elderly may never be preyed upon, but in most places around the world, there are bad people.

Some places around the world are living in such a nanny or orwellian state they have forgotten what freedom truely means and feels like. you run your country the way you see fit, but leave us alone. If you come here as a friend, to visit or even stay, legally, we will welcome you, even protect you and yours someday maybe if you were to need it.

Yet it is even those law abiding citizens that dont feel the need to own a gun that feel intimidated by people that do... take that tea party rally where everyone had guns, would you not feel threatened by that?

Look, I have no issue with people that hunt or farmers having guns but I do have an issue with people that think they need fully automatic weapons.

Why is it I have to be in the act of farming or hunting to own/possess firearms?

Yet it is even those law abiding citizens that dont feel the need to own a gun that feel intimidated by people that do... take that tea party rally where everyone had guns, would you not feel threatened by that?

Why would I? I'm doing nothing illegal and have zero plans to try to mug them for their possessions so why should I be intimidated by them? If they are law abiding like me... there is NOTHING to worry about. That's what anti-gun people don't understand. Their fear stems from simple ignorance of the topic.

I'm more threatened by some people were issued a drivers license. Per capita you'll see that death by a car is more likely then a gun...unless you're a criminal. Then it's only a matter of when not if.

Your real threat is from politicians who have an agenda ... a gun is merely an object and inanimate. The Tea Party would be more likely to protect your butt .... but in the real world you're more likely to die from falling off a ladder ..... really!

Its also from people that have an agenda too, not just politicians.

Sadly though, trying to get gun control through the minds of most Americans is near impossible.

Can you answer me one question, I see why some could need guns, but do you really need a whole arsenal of weapons? No, besides you cant hunt with most of those guns anyway.

I have one gun, a Colt 1911 .45. Thats all I have and thats all I need, so why have like 50+ guns in your house if their only use is target practice, unless some are really paranoid and think the "govment is ot to git tem", trust me Ive met those people..Those are the people I feel threatened by, the RedNecks that dont know what they are doing and only have a loose interpretation of the Constitution..

Also, dont we have an assault weapons ban, or was that repealed?

Gun control has no effect of crime.

I didn't know I was limited on what legal items I may buy. And I can hunt with ANY of those firearms in Texas, it just depends on the game.

The "assault weapons ban" expired in 2004 ten years after in went in to place. FBI crime stats show it had no effect on crime. The bill wasn't worth the paper it was written on, just another "feel good" law.

Do you play golf? If you do, do you use 1 club? You can probably play all 18 holes with a 7 iron, heck even putt with it. But most guys who like golf have clubs for different shots. I like a 308 for target shooting out to 600-1000yrds. 223 for varmint hunting and target out to 400. Sure, I have a 1911 for IPSC style shooting, but also have a .45 carbine just for target shooting in an indoor range at 25 yrds. For self defense I have a shotgun.

Like most gun guys, we like different guns for different things and we don't like someone telling us we can't have it.

Every single firearm in that picture above does something completely different. With your limited knowledge of firearms I don't expect you to understand though. Each time you type your own ignorance to firearms comes through.

In all honesty it's people like YOU who I'm most afraid of. I know who the criminal is because he will try to rob or mug me. The problem with people like you is you own a single (or sometimes two or three depending on how many they inherited) gun and don't know the first thing about them. It's not the gun that's dangerous it's the person who owns them and you are FAR more dangerous owning something you know nothing about than I am with hundreds that I not only fully understand but do ALL Of the gunsmithing on myself. You will NEVER have to worry about me accidentally injuring an innocent person through my negligence. Just you owning a firearm and knowing so little (as evidenced by your statements in this thread) is what is a thread to innocent people and YOU are the person people are talking about getting guns out of the hands of.. not people like me.

Loose interpretation of the constitution? Do you even know your constitution? I do. It was written to protect the freedoms of the people. Not the safety. Not the government. THE PEOPLE. With each freedom we take away in the name of safety with some new law the closer we get to not being a free people, no matter how small the law seems. Life is inherently dangerous. If you're fortunate enough to still be alive then it's going to continue to be that way until the day you die and that's the nature of life. Instead, smart people such as myself get my freedoms taken away to protect the stupid people from themselves. Common sense has been replaced with sheeple who expect their government to have their best interests in mind instead of their own.

The 2nd amendment was written and put in place to assure that the right of the people to protect themselves from each other and most importantly the government was not only important... it was the SECOND more important thing in the entire document. It also states very clearly that it shall not be infringed upon and Congress shall make NO Laws infringing upon this right. If you knew anything about world history (and I'm not talking about that worthless drivel taught in US public schools either) you would know a couple VERY important things 1) Dynasties/Empires don't last. In fact, most are on a 100-200yr cycle. How old is the United States again. Hmmm.... 2) every Democracy in history has fallen into dictatorship. As soon as the government no longer fears the people then we are just victims in waiting. I know you think this is fairytale or we are somehow different but if you study world history and how many times it's happened (right up until the last several decades even) you will see that the parallels are surprising. I know you won't take the time to get a masters in history so do yourself a favor and watch the following for a brief synopsis of it and how the role of firearms and firearms control has played: Innocents Betrayed, A History of Gun Violence. The more Americans who don't know their rights and more importantly why they are in place the closer we are to doom.

Also, dont we have an assault weapons ban, or was that repealed?

This is my favorite term of the anti-2nd amendment crowd. What exactly is an 'assault weapon'?

p.s. I don't know why I waste my time on people who don't possess the common sense to look at both sides of a topic with an open mind and make their own decision rather than just parroting what the media has told them to think. This country is doomed.

Gun control has no effect of crime.

As much as I wish this statement were true the simple truth is that it's not. As gun laws are increased crime also increases. Over the last few years when the sale and ownership of firearms has skyrocketed the crime rate has decreased nationally. As gun rights are loosened and CCW permits increase at record numbers the rate at which violent crimes are committed has greatly decreased. Keep in mind this is all during a downturn in the economy which historically has meant an increase in the national crime rate. Time after time when entities are successful in 'controlling' firearms amongst those who know the laws and abide by them (read: not criminals) the crime rate and specifically the violent crime rate skyrockets. If you doubt me I will cite an example within our own borders that is not only recent but ongoing. Chicago. There are plenty more but most people will argue that it's not within our country bound by our lifestyle or it's in the past during a different time in history.

Yes this is true...

The world is filled with people who need asylum / help... sadly... these people are the 1st who get into power and cause global wars etc...

Yes guns are not good but I do agree that they are neccessary in this crazy "modern" day world...some people will not behave... this is true... look at Communism and the cold war... people have the right to defend themselves.... sadly.....

OstrichSak is correct.... everyone here needs to see both side of the equation / discussion...

And @ OstrichSak:

America is not doomed.... it is THE world power... the world hopefully will not let it go down my friend...

Unfortunately the world is content to sit idly by and watch us burn with a few even throwing fuel onto the fire due to personal gain by our collapse, be it financial or personal. The reason I say this country is doomed is because any type of reset switch pushing will have to come from within our borders and I just don't think enough intelligent, willing and able civilians remain to fight for what this country means.. and not what it has become. Those intelligent enough were also intelligent enough to get into government/politics and feed of the system that continues to spiral out of control at the cost of American tax payers (read: you) and those who are willing are mostly overseas fighting for democracy for other countries when the country that needs it the most is right here.

OstrichSak.... you must be more positive my friend! :)

But yes you are correct...

America fought for freedom during the war of independance.... sadly it does need the worlds help right now i agree with that...that is very important... but America now has alot financial problems at the moment due to a crack pot government that is controll there...

But be posistive dude!! :)

They were the first (and only) civilization to put a man on the moon for goodness sake!!

sooo anything is possible it can turn around...if the crazy government goes that is....sadly....Obummer / Obama is mad.

Oh! great start there, I love how you think you can tell everything about me from one damn post, smarty right here!

From a few post, you know EVERYTHING about me huh? Sure you do.

Oh sorry I had a good education at private schools for most of my life, damn good history programs too! Oh Im sorry, I still do not see why you have included this in your "rebuttal".

No shit every firearm does a different purpose, my point: is there a necessity to have all of those different types of guns? No. A Draganov 7.62 sniper rifle, what could you possibly have a reason for that except to shoot at targets.

A sniper rifle with a silencer on it? Point of owning? except to brag you have one? Sure competition shooters I can see why people would have these guns.

Oh! I dont possess the mind to look at other point of views eh? is that why you seem to belittle my intelligence with a history rant that does not pertain to the question I asked? I am asking these questions for a reason, because I have looked at both sides.

Once again you seem to know me when I post one little thing. "Anti-second amendment"? Hahah, me apart of that group. Hmm well this is one of your assumptions about me.

I know enough to know you know nothing of what you argue.

Oh sorry I had a good education at private schools for most of my life, damn good history programs too! Oh Im sorry, I still do not see why you have included this in your "rebuttal".

This is the product of a 'good education at private schools'? Glad I went to public school.

No shit every firearm does a different purpose, my point: is there a necessity to have all of those different types of guns? No. A Draganov 7.62 sniper rifle, what could you possibly have a reason for that except to shoot at targets.

How about history and collecting? How about sporting purposes? I love how you throw the term 'sniper' in the description to drive your point as if it were part of the actual name. Can it shoot someone? Sure. Is that it's ONLY purpose and reason for owning? Of course not. Just like a shovel can kill someone if someone choses to use it for that purpose. Should we start regulating them?

A sniper rifle with a silencer on it? Point of owning? except to brag you have one? Sure competition shooters I can see why people would have these guns.

Again, this term you use 'sniper rifle' is frowned up by anyone who knows anything about firearms. A 'sniper rifle' is any rifle that an ACTUAL sniper uses. Just the rifle by itself is NOT a sniper rifle and calling everything you see a sniper rifle only serves to make you look stupid. Just like everything in the eyes of those who don't know is a 'machine gun' or an 'AK47' because they're too ignorant to that which they fight so hard against.

Back to your 'silencer' question. For starters, it's called a suppressor or if you want to use proper slang, a can. A silencer is a term coined by Hollywood and video games. It most certainly does NOT 'silence' anything. It serves to reduce both noise as well as felt recoil tot he shooter. The functional use is to make a rifle ears safe and help reduce recoil. Hollywood will have you believe that it makes a rifle 'silent' but anyone who has seen on in action in real life knows it doesn't come even remotely close. Just another of MANY fallacies from people who get their info for their anti-2nd amendment tirade from Hollywood.

Oh! I dont possess the mind to look at other point of views eh? is that why you seem to belittle my intelligence with a history rant that does not pertain to the question I asked? I am asking these questions for a reason, because I have looked at both sides.

It's points of view. That along with many, many, MANY errors you've made in grammar, spelling and punctuation is how I've arrived at my conclusion of the level of your applied intelligence. You may be a straight A student for all I know but in the real world on real world topics you fail. Miserably. Perhaps you should spend more time educating yourself on real life?

Once again you seem to know me when I post one little thing. "Anti-second amendment"? Hahah, me apart of that group. Hmm well this is one of your assumptions about me.

So prove me wrong.

the RedNecks that dont know what they are doing and only have a loose interpretation of the Constitution..

Hmm...

No... this is prejudice / ethnicism my friend...

It is infact you that are "pre-judging"...

Do you think he is a "red neck" simply because he owns many fire-arms / weapons?

Hmm... yes... this is known as "streotyping" and that is very dangerous to asume that he is a "redneck" this is very rude and bad behaviour.... only animals do this.

So it is clear that you do not know him...period. That is why he said / claimed he knew everything about you... because he knew enough to know that you are prejudging him...

And about the many fire arms.... HE IS A FREE MAN.... that is what is good about America... freedom of choice....and has made America the "top-dog".

I have a number of pretty nice firearms I use for target practice. I wouldn't trust the Tea Party Boys or their party to serve as school crossing guards. To me, they represent the very worst of America.
