new to the forums here too; had my SF since Friday and enjoying it! did quick gps test yesterday morning; reroute, etc worked as expected. Voice is not as crisp as my Garmin; but it will work fine. Took some pics i'll post int the pic thread shortly. Mix of 3G and Wifi use when home/out and have little less than 50% left from yesterdays charge

I'm coming from the LG DARE, which I really enjoyed (I didn't have any data plan, whatsoever, so I never used it for email or web stuff... just texting and calls (who knew?? phone calls!!!). I am a die-hard T9-word gal. And pretty much only wanted a resistive screen (i use my nails or a stylus to text).. so the capacitive screen has been a HUGE learning curve for me (but I know resistive screens are soon to be going the way of 8-track tapes.. LOL).

I went back to Verizon yesterday with the intention of returning the Fascinate. (and believe me.... I had been LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING IT!! I ordered it on-line a second after Midnight when it was released.. LOL) The Verizon reps ROCK!! They talked me into keeping it by downloading a T9 app for me. Still struggling to figure everything out... but enjoying it more and more as I get used to it. Before long I'm sure I won't know how I lived without it <3

Hi everyone. While I have been lurking I've learned so much. I had a Droid X for about 3 weeks but returned it because there were some software bugs that I knew I wouldn't want to live with for 2 years and neither VZ or Moto could guarantee they would be fixed with the 2.2 update or say when the update was coming. I keep my phones for 2 years and I'm not much of a gambler, so I returned the phone thinking I'd either wait to see if Froyo fixed the issues or if another phone came along that I liked better. There really were a lot of things about it that I liked, but as I said there were a few things I couldn't live with, and honestly it always felt just a little too big and bulky for me. When I learned that the Fascinate was coming I started doing my research and once I had a chance to hold one and play around on it at the store, I knew this was a better fit for me (also checked out the Droid 2, but didn't care for it). I know the Fascinate isn't much smaller than the X, but it just fits my hand better and feels so much lighter. It isn't perfect either and I know that no phone is, but I can tolerate the bugs that have surfaced on this phone and it just suits me better.

Thanks for listening. Now, I am going to post a question in the Troubleshooting thread!

This is my first smartphone too. Like anything there is a break-in period. If the Dare was your first touchscreen you probably have an adjustment there too. Im still getting used to the lack of a physical qwerty and Im not 100% efficient with swype yet either but everyday I seem to be getting better. Plus the speech to text is pretty darn accurate on this device provided you are in a quiet enough environment.

My first smartphone too. I was all set to leave Verizon and get a cheap smartphone at MetroPCS. Then I started researching androids and became obsessed for the last month. I figured out I would never be satisfied with a phone from them. I was going back and forth with all of the droids at Verizon and then suddenly the Fascinate popped up and the bogo deal was too good to pass up as DH needs a phone too. Plus, the X was my second choice and my head would explode if I had to wait until 9/21. DH and my daughter would kill me by then anyway. I get the phone tomorrow and I can hardly wait!

*sigh*... I don't know how to do the "highlight the text reply thingy" that all of you are so proficient at!!... so... "saps", Yes... the DARE took a while to get used to... but WOW... did I ever love that phone! It fit my needs perfectly as far as texting, and I would probably still have it... but the battery didn't hold a charge at ALL. I had to have it plugged in to make a phone call... and it pained me to buy a new battery.... and I was WAY overdue for an upgrade... and when the Galaxy started making an appearance... I thought it was time! But I came SUPER close to giving the SF back... and just get a new battery for my DARE until the next "latest and greatest" phone hits the scene... LOL.... I have 27 days to make sure I made the right choice... we'll see. I'm enjoying reading how everyone is "starting the dance" and getting used to their new toy :)

My ex had a Dare and it was great when it came out. She was so used to T9 on keys it took her awhile on the touch only but soon she was flying. She eventually sat on it and the screen cracked. Hopefully with Gorilla Glass if that ever happens to these babies we wont have cracked screens.

Bottom Line I bet in a week you'll be used to it and by day 30 you wont even consider it
