Root Text on screen lock

After rooting my phone with Universal 1 Click and then flashing the KaosFroyo ROM, my phone now shows the text TeamandIRC ont he screen lock and a few other places I can't recall right now. Since I have root access, is there a way to change this? I appreciate the work that went into the ROM and prefer to show my support by making a donation, not by advertising to myself.

Does anyone know how to change that?

Thanks! That FAQ does look very helpful.

I have created the eri.xml, I put it on my SDCARD in /Data but nothing changed. I then figured there was a /Data on the phone itself and tried to copy the file between the SDCard and phone but cannot paste. I'm using andExplorer.

Can you recommend another utility or method?

The FAQ references using ADB but I don't know what that is and a search of the market didn't yield anything that looked like an appropriate utility.

There is an easier way, actually. Download a file called ChangetoVZW.zip, out it on the root of your SD card, and flash it from recovery.

Just for the record, though, you don't put that eri.xml file on a data directory of the SD card - you put it on the data directory of the phone's internal memory. So, not /sdcard/data, but /data. You can do it through some adb commands from your computer while the phone is connected, or with an app like Root Explorer from the phone itself.

That said, that ChangetoVZW file is here: HTC Droid Eris ROM Site

(Scroll down a bit to find it.)

Every time that you flash a new update to Kaos Froyo, just flash this file right after before you restart from recovery to change the text on the lockscreen.

I found this way here: KaosFroyo FAQ - KaosFroyo - GitHub

Banner says “Team AndIRC” and I want it to say “Verizon” or something else

Make a new file called eri.xml and push to /data/ (with adb or whatever)

<EriFile VersionNumber="1357" NumberOfEriEntries="1" EriFileType="1">
<CallPromptId Id="0" CallPromptText="CallPromptId0"/>
<CallPromptId Id="1" CallPromptText="CallPromptId1"/>
<CallPromptId Id="2" CallPromptText="CallPromptId2"/>
<EriInfo RoamingIndicator="128" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="YourBannerHere" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0"/>
</EriFile>

Change "YourBannerHere" to whatever you want

The easiest way to get rid of that banner (as opposed to changing it) is to go to menu > settings > cyanogenmod settings > user interface > date & provider
Then turn off "Display PLMN(lockscreen)" and "Display SPN(lockscreen)".
Actually only one of those controls that banner, but I've never checked to see which one it is, I just turn them both off.

Download and install the SDK:
http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r07-windows.zip

Open windows Explorer. Navigate to the SDK tools directory.

Create a text file and put the following contents in it. Replace my name with yours.

<EriFile VersionNumber="1357" NumberOfEriEntries="1" EriFileType="1">
<CallPromptId Id="0" CallPromptText="CallPromptId0"/>
<CallPromptId Id="1" CallPromptText="CallPromptId1"/>
<CallPromptId Id="2" CallPromptText="CallPromptId2"/>
<EriInfo RoamingIndicator="128" IconIndex="1" IconMode="0" EriText="Mark D. MacLachlan" CallPromptId="0" AlertId="0"/>
</EriFile>

Save the file. Rename the file eri.xml.

Connect your phone to computer, enable USB debugging and open up command prompt. (Don’t mount SD card)
In the command prompt, type "cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\" then enter.
Type "adb remount" without the quotes. Press enter.
Type "Adb push eri.xml /data/" without the quotes. Press enter.
Type "adb reboot" without the quotes. Press enter.

And my full notes for how I customized the Eris:

Get your downloads all ready and saved on the SD Card.

KaosFroyo
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
Radio Upgrade

Now get Root Access

Overview, you will use your web browser to get the below file. Then browse your SD Card and launch the download.
If you don't have a file manager to view the SD Card, go to the market and search for AndExplorer. Install it.

Run, read disclaimer, press button

Shutdown by holding in the red button and selecting shutdown.

Wait for full shutdown. Press and hold the volume down button while pressing and releasing the red button.

You are now in recovery mode.

Use volume down to move to Recovery. Press the red button.

Use the trackball to select Backup/Restore.
Press the trackball.
Select Nand Backup
Press the trackball.

Use Volume Down to return to main menu. Select Flash zip from SD Card.

Type "Adb push eri.xml /data/" without the quotes. Press enter.
Type "adb reboot" without the quotes. Press enter.

Get yourself some cool new applications.

Set CPU
Speed up the CPU with Set CPU from the market. I think I paid $2 for it, well worth it.
Install it and select Autodetect Speeds Recommended.
Click Profiles. Select Enable.
Create profiles:
Charging/Full Max 710 Min 122 On Demand
Battery < 100% Max 710 Min 122 Performance
Battery < 30% Max 410 Min 122 On Demand
Screen Off Max 410 Min 122 On Demand

Titanium Backup
Install Titanium Backup, use this to remove Amazon MP3 store or any other pre-installed apps.
Be sure to do a backup first, you may need to restore. Do NOT uninstall the Dialer program.
You won't be able to make calls without it.

WiFi Tether for Root
Turn your phone into a WiFi hot spot.

Dialer One
I prefer this dialer, it has many customizable features and a much better speed dial system.

Dolphin Browser HD
A better browser that lets you go forward and back with gestures on the screen. Way better navigation.

Fancy Widget
4shared.com - free file sharing and storage - download
This is the clock/weather widget from HTC.
