Word. Be happy you can afford such a high end phone in the first place. In this recession ppl are struggling to make ends meet and your whining about whether your phone says 2.1 or 2.2. Yea it gets a few more bells and whistles. So what.be content with your life there's so much more to it. When you get it you get it. If you don't so be it. They don't HAVE to update shit. You bought the phone with 2.1 for all intensive purposes they came thru on there end of the bargain. Besides developers have lives too.

No. This phone does not function properly on 2.1. Samsung designed a flawed proprietary cache system which makes the phone lag. Thanks to them for completely changing the stock android OS and replacing it with their own code. In theory, because of this phones powerful hardware, basic OS functions through the menus should happen instantly without lag. This is apparently fixed with the 2.2 update. However, bugs like this would not be apparent in the stock android UI. It makes me mad how companies put such heavily customized UI's over the android interface that really only make the phones perform worse.

Imagine if this phone shipped with vanilla android 2.2..

Aside from Flash which is pointless since HTML5 is right around the corner, what are the advantages to Froyo? I'm still on 2.1, rooted, stock rom and lag fix so my phone is super snappy. Just want to know if I'm missing anything.

No you're not missing anything, except a group of phone enthusiasts (kids) who absolutely HAVE to have the latest trend otherwise their life is incomplete.

I mean, God forbid you have to wait a few extra weeks for an upgrade, and then cry like a little bitch because you don't have flash on your phone so you can't play farmville or mafia wars, thinking that will help push up the release date.
