Had my phone (Vibrant) almost two weeks. Signed up here because I like the community. I didn't even know this place existed or I would have been here long ago for my MyTouch. I am learning how to make my phone exactly how I want it here and hope to be able to contribute more as time goes on.

Welcome! :)

I am a lurker and I joined !
Love my Sammy Vibe. Even though I dropped it 5 feet and the screen cracked like crazy.
Cost $160 to fix.

Sorry to hear about that... That's an expensive repair. Did it land face first and was it protected at all with either a screen protector or case?

It landed face first on tile, probably just the right angle to destroy it.
Needless to say, I now have a nice jelly case and Reallook screen protector on it. Best protection however is the lesson I learned to be careful.

Absolutely! What did you do for a phone while it was being repaired? And who repaired it?

It only took about a week and I just used my old phone that I (thankfully) held on to.
Repair was done by Samsung in Texas.
They best I could find on ebay was a replacement screen for $100. I figured $60 was not too much to pay to have it done right (rather than tearing the phone up myself and making it worse)

That's not a bad turnaround but it's a good thing you had a spare phone!

Also, I think you definitely did the right thing by letting Samsung fix your phone. The replacement screen on Ebay says "LCD touchscreen" NOT Amoled touchscreen. Possibly a huge difference or maybe a poor choice of terminology in the listing?

From what I've been reading Samsung is not selling Amoled screens to 3rd parties, so you might have bought an inferior screen on Ebay. Then you would have to install it. Unless you have some advanced skills that's probably a job better left to the pros.

I guarantee I would have bricked my phone after seeing the process required to take the phone apart

Feel free to add anything to the conversation. Some folks think they don't have anything to contribute, but that would be wrong, as we are a community! :D Welcome!
