Nowhere near as much as you can get for under $8 (2GB MicroSD card, free shipping). And that solution doesn't require rooting, fancy software or dealing with tricky/risky hacking techniques.

Freeing up space shouldn't be your priority in taking this on. Most of the people doing this are just OCD or already rooting their phones and have the other software installed for other reasons.

Not enough to make it worthwhile unless you're big on "principle." Forgive the qualitative reply vs. the quantitative one you seek, but there's so much in the way of memory (native plus expansion capability) that I'd forget it.

Personally I got rid of the AT&T stuff, since most of it costs to use and I just want it gone; that's it. One way to cheat, install Launcher Pro, there is a feature that lets you "hide" apps, like the AT&T apps. Same result really without voiding the phone's warranty.

I had no desire to root so I installed Launcher Pro to hide them as described above since my only concern was never to see the pre-installed junk. I have more memory available then I will ever use so I am happy.
