Root Live Wallpaper with KaosFroyo? Original Clock & Weather Widget?

Been working my way through all the settings on my phone since rooting my Eris with KaosFroyo. Loving everything but a few minor glitches.

1. QuickProfiles does and FC when you try to edit a profile to change any of the Volume settings.

2. I would like an aquarium live wallpaper. None seem to work, even the smoke wallpaper included in the image. I have seen comments by Kaos that the LWP must be sized for Eris, but I see no way to check that. Particularly frustrating is that the preview works great.

3. I miss my default Eris digital clock and weather widget. Is there a separate install for that?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The digital clock and weather widget was a part of the Sense UI. There are some roms out there that you can flash that have many of the sense elements in them. Other than that, you can grab Beautiful Widgets from the market and use it as a Clock/Weather widget. I'm sure there are others, but I always used BW.

I would suggest you contact the author on whether the app is compatable with 2.2

punk.kaos give pretty fair warning that LWP may or may not work, depending on your hardware. I've played with a couple, and din't think they were worth the processor load or battery drain

Fancy Widget was a direct replacement for the Eris Clock/Weather widget. It is awesome. I may give up on the live wallpaper. It looked interesting so I wanted to give it a try but not really worth further investigation. I will however let the Quick Profiles author know about the issue I am having. Doesn't happen on my Motorola Droid also running 2.2 (non rooted) though.

One follow up question, anyone know the name of the default Eris Messaging Widget? The few that I have found in the market are too busy with balloons popping up.

I use weather and toggle widgets too. Its pay but not only do you get the HTC replica clock/weather but there are a bunch of other clock and weather skins so you can have the big clock there but still be different from everybody elses. it also does the HTC like weather animations on unlocking and when you press the clock/weather widget. it also comes with other toggle widgets (blue tooth off on, wifi, brightness ect..all the usuals) and their version of power control bar widgets.

as far as wallpapers some are going to work and some are going to have trouble sticking. the preloaded ones (smoke and map) wont work no matter what. dont even click those. the ones I've tried that work without issue are: Starfield, Cube, PhysX, Mystify, nexus revamped (like nexus but no touch interaction), The matrix (there are several. not sure about all of them), Bobs, On Dubs (pay), Plasma, Flying toast, Shake them all, All BetterYourDroid wallpapers (pay: $.99 each. they have Driod X eye, Droid 2 eye, Nexus boot screen to name a few). You can look most of those up on youtube or just seach top 10 or best andriod live wallpapers on youtube.

Now all these I can get to stick working a little mojo: basically after hitting set wallpaper quickly hitting the back button then quickly long holding the power off button until the turn off/reboot/airplane screen shows, then toggling the lock screen off and on until it sticks. timing is everything (although I have found no real pattern except good mojo) and it may take several tries but I can get almost all to stick this way. NOW after they stick some may still clash with other apps or random freeze. For example opening the 3D gallery app with some of these may cause a freeze and battery pull (which usually works great to get them to stick on reboot BTW lol). those that require this I use for novelty but never really leave on the phone long. those I use this method for are: Galactic core, Thunderstorm (not to be confused with storm), Stonerview, VR tunnel lite, EarthRot, aCircuit Board (pay), Seeds of life (pay). basically most of the real cool ones. If you get any of these to just set and work consider yourself lucky.
