it's probably cause when they ask a question some SMART@$$ will comment that "this has been asked so many times or say something to make them feel stupid.... put a stop to the flamer, trolls and everyone understand that the new people to the site might not know or understand that there is a search option, or they might have a different issue.

maybe if the members I am talking about would welcome them and answer OR NOT we might get more sign ups.

The staff has been taking HUGE steps toward stopping this kind of behavior. I can't tell you the number of nasty PM's I get from people as a result of issues warnings/infractions to members who act in this manner. Hint: The other day it was 38 PM's.

Ultimately though, the staff can't be everywhere and we can't see every thread. It really is up to ALL the members of AF to report these problem posts so that they can be properly dealt with.

I haven't used many forums in a while, but I really like this one (especially since getting my Hero). Everyone's been very helpful so far.

Glad to hear that! Welcome!

I'm currently in the process of still gathering information about whether or not to root my phone. Still on the fence about it and will continue to gather information. Thanks!

steven sends a subliminal message to bernyb: rooooooooooooooot! roooooooooooot!

Welcome Berny!

I think the staff here do a pretty bang up job. I have hardly seen any situations where there was all out flaming and trolling, at least in the Sprint HTC Hero section, which is pretty much the only section I frequent on these forums. ;)

Good work, Android Forums staff. Your vigilance is much appreciated. :)

Thanks! See Kelmar? They like us! They really like us! :)

bernyb: I too was on the fence about rooting, then I dropped my Hero in some water. Once I got that recovered and I saw the water dots were pink I figured "well, I've already voided the warranty, so I guess I'll just buy the insurance and root away"

Best thing that ever happened to me, dropping my 2 week old phone into a glass of water. (not that I suggest that part.)

I'm in an interesting situation. I have been using a WinMo Sprint Palm Treo Pro for over a year now and I just got sick of how slow it is and how small the screen is. I just recently purchased a Sprint Hero on ebay. The interesting part is that the person I bought it from has already put CM6 RC1 Froyo on it. So i'm trying to read about everything that entails and learn where the phone used to be and where I can take it from here.

Everyone in this forum seems very cool and I look forward to the experiments and frustrations I'm sure will ensue from this new purchase.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

p.s. Android has SO many more options than WinMo which makes it a little overwhelming at first.
