Accessories Do you use protection case for your htc desire?

I was massively paranoid about my phone when I got it, but have settled on a flip case to carry it around in, but when I'm at home or work I take it out and it's fine.

I had a screen protector and gel case, but took the screen off after a while, I still use the gel case now and again.

I've decided that if you look after it, it'll last perfectly well :) No need to treat it like it's going to fall apart at the slightest knock

I do too, got butter fingers and during the 18 months of my contract I normally manage to do something spectacular. Love this phone like my own family so want to protect it from my ******edness!

I use this case...

NEW GRAY FLEXISHIELD GEL CASE COVER FOR HTC DESIRE UK on eBay (end time 19-Sep-10 01:05:03 BST)

Also have a Martin Fields screen and camera lens protector on it. Have not dropped it yet but I can assure you that both will keep it safe. The gel case is superb, keeps the camera lens away from surfaces and has just enough of a raised bit around the screen to protect it if dropped. Also makes it feel slightly more secure in your hand as its slightly rubbery on the top edges. The back is nice and smooth so it slips in and out of pockets easilly. Also when on my Desire it adds bearly any bulk so all in all I reckon this is my perfect case.

Also the Martin Fields protectors are the best imo. Have tried others but the screen looks better with these and they resist scratches more.

My GF also has a desire and she has the same screen protector but this case...

New Black HTC Desire Pull Pop Case Cover Sleeve Pouch on eBay (end time 04-Oct-10 09:08:02 BST)

I would recommend this too if you want somwthing a bit more business like or something to completely cover the phone. She is as clumsy as me and her phone is also looking as good as the day she got it. Also it cleans the screen when you slide it in and out. Would look elsewhere eg Play.com or Amazon as might find it cheaper :D

EDIT: Have had none of the issues above with my protector lifting off. Maybe its because the Martin Fields stick better, not sure why but had mine on for 4 months and its still perfect.

Hey, I have got a htc desire and I am deciding whether to buy a pouch or case to protect my phone? Do most of you guys use pouch or case?
Normally I carry my phone in a holster, but I've been using the Desire so much more often over the iPhone that I opted to use a "gel" case this time to protect the phone. It's not like a silicone skin or plastic case, it's kind of in-between. It feels like a hard plastic case, but it's somewhat softer and flexes a bit so it feels good but slips in/out of a pocket easily. I picked it up at Telus for only $9.99+tax and it fits the Desire perfectly, protecing the camera lense on the back, and adding a slight lip around the front edge to protect the front. If you've seen the FlexiShield version, this one is basically the same.

An added bonus is that the earpiece is raised slightly due to the lip and that makes it easier to position over your ear without having to make sure it's perfectly located for good audio. Another benefit is the power and volume buttons are now much "firmer" so I don't accicentally change the volume all the time, and I don't hit the wake button when I put the phone in my pocket. I was getting annoyed at how soft and sensitive the power/volume buttons are, but now that's fixed!

I should mention that I don't use a screen protector as I don't like the feel of them and they reduce sensitivity and clarity every so slightly. And of course I never put the phone in a pocket with keys or change or anything that could scratch the phone. But a screen protector would work well with this case if you wanted one.
Besides what will be the side effectif you drop the HTC desire.
Well I've never really dropped a cell phone, so I'm not too concerned. But the "gel" case will definitely help to protect it from scratches and other damage as it will take some of the impact shock if it ever does get dropped. And with a case like this, I can put it on the counter, night stand, in a pocket, or cup holder in the car without worrying about scratching the back of the phone.

Now that I have Froyo running on the phone, a case to protect it, and the case making the buttons firmer to push, the phone is that much closer to perfection.

It makes sense to put your Desire in a case when your out and about. Dropping any phone onto a hard surface is never going to be good, so protect it. When i leave home, normally first thing i do, is put the Desire into the case i have, and off out i go. Its a belt clip type, and i check with annoying frequency that its still there, and no bugger will try to uplift it. :)

I removed my Screen protection and case today. I refuse to be bullied by the worry of dropping my phone. I am spreading my wings . . . I feel free, liberated even . .

And for those who do not take the Desire out of the house . . . . . . take a long hard look! Its a mobile and it's supposed to be mobile. . . Its the gypsy of phones... do not deny it freedom.

Very sad, bit like me, I now use my Wildfire out and about and the Desire in the house, just in case it catches a cold when we are out together. :D

Andrew

that and none of these nice phones are practical far too big, seems to be taking over from my laptop for checking emails etc. I used my ZTE Racer until it got a sore face:mad:

Ouch. That's gotta hurt.

I keep my Desire on a pedestal in the centre of the lounge with a single spotlight shining on it. It has a 4 feet exclusion zone round it maintained by velvet ropes. I hoover anyone entering the room so as not to get dust on it and make them hold their breath so it doesn't get fogged. At precisely 6pm every evening I clean it using a cloth made from the rarest South American albino llama wool.

That or I shove it in a HTC pouch when its in my pocket but otherwise display it in all its glorious nakedness for everyone to see.
