HTC Desire - Made/Manufactured in?

A question, just for the record.

Where have your HTC Desires been manufactured? China/Taiwan..? That's what I find occurring often on Google search.

As I wait for the local dealer here to re-stock his inventory, I couldn't help asking him (out of sheer curiosity) and he is of the opinion that the devices come with the label "Made in Germany".

Thought I'd clarify.

Clarify what? That your local dealer is an idiot? No-one make phones in Germany if they've any sense. It must be the most costly labour market in the world.

Box mine came in says made in Taiwan fwiw.

Taiwan doesn't use any more child labor than the U.S. Whether or not Taiwan is a part of China is a huge political debate, but I promise you this: kids in TW spend more time in school and cram schools than U.S. kids do. I've lived in TW for 10 years, and I lived in the Mainland for a short time.

My point? Child labor is a problem in some parts of Mainland China, but it just doesn't exist here. Part-time jobs for high school students pretty much DON'T EXIST. Many college students don't work at all either.

Not sure where mine was made, not bothered to look at the box, as I don't care.
